Hundreds of National Guard troops have been activated to be in the nation's capital Tuesday to provide security during President Joe Biden's first State of the Union address, but Florida's Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday that members of the Florida National Guard will not be among them.

"Last week, the Biden administration requested the assistance of State National Guards to deploy to Washington, D.C.," DeSantis posted on Twitter. "I have rejected this request — there will be no @FLGuard sent to D.C. for Biden's State of the Union."

Kudos to Governor DeSantis. I'm sure the Capitol police can handle gunning down any unarmed women who start something.

DeSantis should have said the Guard is being activated to round up all the illegal aliens Biden is unlawfully dumping in the state of Florida.

DeSantis is nasty. But God forbid we have a crazy hurricane and his good ole boys won’t be enough to get Fla back in order. He biting the hand that feeds him. His arrogance makes me ill, but pride comes before the fall.

Question/s:

Why would the National Guard be required to police a State of the Union address?

Has this ever been required before? And why now?

We don't need the national guard, all we need is 10 marines with machine guns in 10 bunkers and 1 drill Sargent with a megaphone to give a final warn before force is used. Attacks on our capital will not be tolerated, the attackers will be met with force!!!

Filed under petty politics. I'm sure Desantis has no problem calling up the Fed next time Florida has a natural disaster.

When that apartment building collapsed who was there for him asap and he even thanked Biden. What a weasel.

The Florida National Guard will not be a part of the hundreds of members who were activated as part of a request from the D.C. Emergency Management Agency to provide traffic control and enhanced security in anticipation of the protests surrounding President Joe Biden's speech.

Guard members will not carry firearms or take part in law enforcement or domestic-surveillance activities, the Pentagon said.

While there are no specific or credible threats related to Biden’s speech, law enforcement officials are taking no chances following the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when a violent mob caught D.C. by surprise and successfully stormed the U.S. Capitol, briefly disrupting the certification of Biden’s 2020 presidential victory.

And a racist, left wing Capitol police officer murdered an unarmed white woman for no reason and with no provocation.

Biden hasn't done anything but rip DeSantis for every decision he's made that's gone against Biden's mandates, so why should DeSantis lift a finger (except maybe the middle one) to accommodate the old fart.

If Biden wants help, maybe DeSantis can send him a few busloads of illegal aliens with rakes & trash bags to clean up the White House lawn.
