The fuse that started World War I was the sinking of the British cruise liner Lusitania, which was carrying about 173 tons of war munitions for Britain.

On May 7, 1915 the German U-boat U-20 torpedoed and sank the Lusitania while she was cruising across the Atlantic from New York to Liverpool, England. Of the 1,959 men, women, and children on board, 1,195 perished, including 123 Americans. It was this incident that was the primary reason for the US to enter WWI.

Currently, almost all NATO countries, including the USA, are supplying Ukraine with lethal anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles. They are even considering sending fighter jets.

Putin is fully aware of this - so he might order the downing of planes or the bombing of trains or truck convoys that are suspected of transporting these weapons to Ukraine.

We didn't enter the war until 1917, so the Lusitania was not the event that triggered our entering WW2. There were a number of factors, which there always is in any war.

You may want to check your dates there. WWI was in full swing in May 1915, and the US didn't join until April 1917.

OP, relax with the drama on this issue.

If you look at a map, there are two major highways that connect eastern Poland to western Ukraine (west of Lviv). All NATO has to do is tell the Ukraine authorities to hire a reliable civilian trucking company registered in Ukraine to pick up the weapons shipments at a designated warehouse on the Polish side of the border. That company sends whatever number of trucks needed to the warehouse in Poland, picks up the shipment, and turns around for the trip back into Ukraine. They drop off the shipments at a designated warehouse in western Ukraine for the Ukrainian military to pick up and distribute. No drama, just simple logistics. Perhaps there is a Ukraine military escort while the trucks are in Ukraine, and perhaps there is a Polish military escort while the trucks are in Poland. Either way, they don't have to trigger an international military incident while moving weapons from NATO countries to Ukraine.

I was talking about WWI(One), not Two

From The History Channel:
Quote:
Widespread protest over the sinking by U-boat of the British ocean liner Lusitania—traveling from New York to Liverpool, England with hundreds of American passengers onboard—in May 1915 helped turn the tide of American public opinion against Germany. In February 1917, Congress passed a $250 million arms appropriations bill intended to make the United States ready for war. Germany sunk four more U.S. merchant ships the following month, and on April 2 Woodrow Wilson appeared before Congress and called for a declaration of war against Germany.
Hope that clears it up for you two!

Regardless...

The point of my OP stands:

NATO Supplying Ukraine With Military Arms Could Create A Lusitania-like Fuse For The Start Of World War III!

So what do you think will happen if Russia shoots down a transport plane, military or even more problematic - a civilian cargo plane?!

All but five other countries is the world have demanded that Russia leave Ukraine. Many are sending aid. It’s not big bad NATO. But the Ukrainians can simply go into the Western European countries and bring the weapons back. No need for NATO to go into Ukraine.

It probably would have been better to have avoided this all in the first place by either:

- having voted for Trump instead of a senile imbecile

- impeached the senile imbecile immediately after he ended US energy independence thus diverting energy revenues to Russia to fund Putin's Invasion

- impeached the senile imbecile immediately after he basically OK'd Putin's Invasion when he said he'd tolerate a "minor incursion"

It is indeed horrible what is happening, but I don't want to expose any young American military personnel, which includes both my children, to this European war. Let the Europeans sort it out.

There's close to a two-year gap. Look up the Zimmerman cable.
