The Russian parliament voted to recognize the independence of Luhansk and Donetsk (the Donbas) in January 2022. At that time, the Russian government vowed to defend them.
Over 2000 artillery shells were lobbed into those regions the week prior to invasion. It's almost like the Ukrainian government had assurances that NATO would come to their aid.
Most Russians and Ukrainians know little of what was happening in Eastern Ukraine. Most Europeans know little of what has been going on in Ukraine. Most Americans couldn't find Ukraine on a map, let alone know that a civil war was occurring there.

How do we stop "Putin" from killing more Ukrainians? Start by recognizing the Donbas states' independence. After that, we could stop saying things like "We should put nuclear missiles in Ukraine" or "Ukraine should be a NATO nation."
The reason Graham and other Western politicians are so charged up is because Ukraine is a giant cookie jar and Putin just took it away from them. For a further break down, Ukraine had three major gas fields: One in the west, one in the east, and several in the sea. Crimea had rights to the sea fields and the Donbas has the second one (third is in the west.)
We need our politicians to stop using Ukraine as a money laundering/money making opportunity. We need them to stop putting their family members on Ukrainian corporate boards for influence peddling.
Russia will find a way around the sanctions (through China, India, and Pakistan.) In the process the US dollar will slowly lose its reserve status. In the end, we the citizens of the West, will suffer. Mainly because our politicians are thinking of short term gains.

No, they are thinking about how fat their bank accounts are getting, while we everyday Americans suffer.

I think Lindsey Graham is a two faced mother you know what, that said he openly voiced what probably half of Russia's upper leaders are probably thinking along with a huge amount of what our establishment is thinking.

Granted saying it out loud probably isn't the wisest move.

I have to agree. He’s a 75 year old dictator and he wants to go out with a bang. Dangerous business. Ukraine is just the beginning.

I have to agree. He’s a 70 year old dictator and he wants to go out with a bang. A Big Bang. It’s all about him.

Dangerous business. Ukraine is just the beginning, unless he’s offed.

Maybe. If Ukraine can hold out for a few years until Trump is back in office in 2024, Putin won't dare go further.

With Biden and his Marxist handlers in charge, the Russians and the Chinese know they can do whatever they want with no repercussions.

Putin tried to turn Trump into a Lukashenko and Trump was eager and willing. Putin would love it if Trump was back in power. Trump can never again be trusted with the presidency and one can only hope he will succumb to his obesity and other health problems before the next election. DeSantis or really any other capable republican beating Trump would be critical to the survival of the US.

The only problem with your mindless regurgitation of DNC talking points is that the facts and reality of history totally prove you wrong.

Putin did not invade anything when Trump was President, and that is the incontrovertible fact that blows out your nonsense.
