FBI agents violated agency rules at least 747 times in 18 months while conducting investigations involving politicians, candidates, religious groups, news media and others, according to a 2019 FBI audit obtained by The Washington Times.

The internal review revealed a ratio of slightly more than two “compliance errors” per sensitive investigative matter reviewed by FBI auditors. These errors included agents’ failure to obtain approval from senior FBI officials to start an investigation, failure to document a necessary legal review before opening an investigation and failure to tell prosecutors what they were doing.

Think of all the high profile individuals who have been to Epstein island with no investigation. We all know they were having sex with 15 year old girls. The ruling class don't like being investigated.

That said, these days Republicans can be investigated, just not Democrats unless they do something blatant.

on [exceedingly] rare occasions, they'll deign to investigate democrats too, if they don't walk the walk.

This has pretty much been the norm in many countries, thru out history...the 'elite/ruling class' are above the law...they also use 'govt law enforcement' to target their enemies, the opposition, not a big surprise that this happens in the US too.

A clear example from 2009 was the FBI investigation of Gov. Rod Blagovich (Illinois) who was selling Obama's vacated Senate seat as they got to appoint the replacement.

Audio calls of him asking for paid board positions etc. for him and his wife sent him to prison.

What is less known is that someone in the FBI leaked the investigation to the press, prematurely ending it.

This spared several high profile Illinois democrats (Jesse Jackson Jr. as well as the guy that eventually got the senate seat (burris?) and 4 others) from also facing criminal charges.

The dems have used the FBI as their personal "SS", intimidating and investigating political opponents, rather than dealing with law enforcement.

EVERYTHING about the democrats is corrupt and illegal.

Republicans have done the same thing too though...it just depends on which party happens to be in power at the time, (that is who the FBI works for then...and targets the opposition).

This is nothing new or exclusive to the US, this is the norm in many countries and administrations/regimes.
