If china were to invade Taiwan would we really be able to impact them with any meaningful sanctions? Think about it. 90 percent of the junk at Wally is made in China and just about everything else.

Plus they own trillions of our debt they pretty much own us they could collapse the whole U.S economy if China wanted to.

China can bring us to our knees within a matter of weeks, if not days, by simply halting all trade with us and threatening any other country who sells us "Made in china" products. The worst thing is that most of the active ingredients in our pharmaceuticals is provided from them as well. They won't need to fire a single bullet. And who do we have to blame for this? Our rulers who chase manufacturing overseas with the burdensome tax and environmental regulations.

That's above my pay grade to think about luckily If ever there is a disruption/problem that results from our trade with China, the blame would not be placed on the average American consumer who decided where this stuff is made based on their purchasing decisions. The blame will be placed on the corporations, politicians and businesses that were involved with giving US consumers the choice to become dependent on China and their system. I think there is a little blame to go around for everyone though.

This is all so true.

Remember when Trump was called a Nationalist and all sorts of other things when he wanted to bring manufacturing back to the US by offering incentives and tax breaks? Oh no the Powers that Be cannot ever MAGA because all they want to do is knock America off its perch.

It is all going to collapse sooner than later and it is not going to be pretty but that is what they want so they can rebuild or BBB.

The only thing that is stopping China now is that so much of their economy is tied to ours.

Unfortunately a lot more than we really should....it all starts with corporate greed and goes down hill from there.
If China invaded Taiwan the US couldn't afford to impose sanctions because most of our life style/health is depended on China to produce. Especially pharmaceuticals.
Actually China holds about $1.1 trillion of American's debt. And I doubt that amount could bring down our economy.

...well sure, if one is short sighted enough one can blame "our rulers"...but he real reason goes much deeper...

...twenty years ago when you needed a new lawn mower instead of going to 'jake's' , the locally owned, third generation hardware store in the center of town you went to walmart and bought one there because it was eighty dollars cheaper...look in the mirror....there in lies your reason...

That's the problem we don't produce anything anymore in this country its all outsourced over seas. Just like oil we are too dependent on other countries that hate us.

The US economy would legitimately collapse overnight without Chinese products.

No it wouldn't. It's actually set up very well to deal with the problems that would inevitably follow, but we would emerge stronger than ever. Maybe a little less comfortable in the beginning, but we would survive and even thrive. We would probably even have wage growth

By the same token, many European countries have readily admitted that it would take some 30 years to wean themselves off Russian gas and oil.
