So, Europe is facing another refugee crisis, this one looking to end up being far more massive than the last one. Millions upon millions of refugees will likely pour out of Ukraine into the EU in the coming months and years. How will they be treated by the people in the EU nations? Will they be welcomed with open arms, taken care of, etc? That's a possibility, but human nature tells me that probably won't be the case. The bulk, if not the vast majority, of refugees are desperate and highly vulnerable women and children. These are the type of people who are extremely easy to exploit, and they probably will be to a great extent. Another factor is the immense strain these refugees will place on the resources and finances of their host nations- I can see the people of these nations, upon the next economic crisis, blaming the refugees, using them as scapegoats. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing an epidemic of violence against them.
What do you think will be the fate of these refugees?
So far, the welcome has been quite warm - to the point where Europe has been accused of racism for not rolling out the welcome mat for Middle East refugees to the same extent. Europe seems to be in agreement that flipping the bird at Putin is a Good Thing, and welcoming refugees seems part of that.

Well, yeah, we're only two weeks into this refugee crisis. Let's see how "warm" the welcome will be in another year or two.
Majority of Ukranians in Poland will re-settle there and Poland will take in what ever they can. There is a long history of Poland and Western Ukraine. You can say Western Ukraine was part of Poland back in the day. Not sure if Ukranians in Hungary will stay there, but many are loving how they've been treated in Hungary and Czech Repub.

Not if the Russians win. The Russians already kidnapped the Mayor of Melitopol for not obeying their orders. The Ukrainians will not want to live under that kind of rule.
Even if they are treated great, they really just want to go home. Many of those people had high standards of living, now they only have one suitcase. Let's hope they're not still refugees at "the next economic crisis".
