Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis received a phone call this week from Bob Chapek, the CEO of Disney. Chapek asked DeSantis to veto the Parental Rights in Education bill, which bars teachers from instructing children under the age of eight about sex.
...
DeSantis took the call from Chapek and then firmly stood his ground in support of the legislation.

Disney is the largest corporation in the state, where Disney World is located, and DeSantis didn't budge. He also called the corporation out for their business in China.

Parents have always had the right to remove their kids from sex ed courses. But where is this taught in kids under 8. It's taught in high school, maybe middle schools now because it involves teenage pregnancy. DeSantis is just grandstanding now, with this parental rights bill. The internet is a wealth of information where these kids can learn anything and everything. So they will just learn about sex ed there.
Why a corporation feels the need to lobby the government personally about a law should concern everyone. The fact this law is unrelated to Disney’s business empire is even more concerning.
