A man convicted of killing two New York City police officers has been invited to speak at a SUNY Brockport event next month. His participation is drawing a backlash.
Jalil Muntaqim, who changed his name from Anthony Bottom, is scheduled to speak about what he says it was like being a political prisoner. Bottom was a member of the Black Panther Party, and along with two others, was convicted of killing Patrolman Joseph Piagentini and Patrolman Waverly Jones in 1971.
