Amazon announced on Friday that it has decided to relocate office staff in downtown Seattle due to a sustained uptick in violent crime, with other businesses in the area opting to stick with remote work for the same reason.
The location that office workers are being moved from employs around 1,800 people, the company confirmed to KOMO News. However, it is currently unclear how many are being relocated as many have continued to work remotely since the start of the pandemic two years ago.
Amazon should be letting the homeless use their offices as places to stay. If not, they aren't being very inclusive. How many LGBT people are homeless because Amazon won't let them stay in the office? How many other minorities are being hurt by Amazon's shameful act of locking their front doors to people who just need a place to stay?
According to this the city council voted 8-1 to cut 2022/police funding by $7 million. This followed a $35.6 million cut in 2021. The one no vote wanted a larger cut.
