I am just guessing but I live 10 miles from Yonkers and in the same county. I give it at best a 50-50 chance that he draws any significant sentence. You know, "mass incarceration." Give these people the chance they've never had in life. That routine.
This Yonkers attack is quite disturbing because this occurred in Yonkers. I've maintained the mindset that violence the most densely concentrated in the ghettos. This happened in Yonkers, a suburb of the NYC area. And this was not some 20-something young hood rat from the projects. This was a 42 year-old. I'm 35 years old (and people tell me I look younger than that). Looks like this crime blows a few things out of the water.
Yonkers is pretty much urban. It is considered a city, and its adjacent to the Bronx. Its practically a continuation of the Bronx. But only one half of Yonkers is bad. There is an upper class half.
Sounds like it, and it appears to be typical in NY and similar places. Unfortunately these Judges, Prosecutors, and Politicians seem to be set on "catch and release" and not actual Reform.
"Police said Esco has 14 prior arrests, half of which involved felony charges. In 2011, he was convicted of assault, sentenced to more than three years in jail and released after two and a half years on parole"
She probably said the n word so she kinda deserved it, right?
That's most likely what his defense will be.
Common sense tells me that the very last thing an elderly woman walking alone would say to a black guy 3 - 4, maybe even 6 times her size that she cross paths with, isn't going to say or do anything that could/would provoke an attack.
