I live in Florida and during the summer when it's daylight out later, it's hot as hell and you cannot do any outside work. Then enter standard time in the winter when it finally cools off, and it's dark outside after work and you still cannot do anything outside. So I want to keep DST permanently.

Since I get up pretty early, between 4 and 5, I'd prefer standard time.

But I'll cheerfully go with DST. Just stop the switching!

I don't care. I'll adapt to whatever the time is.

There are things that might be considered "unpopular opinion" in society until you actually take a general poll and see the results. With standard time being the norm the sun would rise at 4:12AM in Milwaukee in June 21 with twilight occurring around 3:30AM.

If we are going to do something like this we need to redefine where the time zones are located, in my opinion. Even in the western half of the central time zone the sun will be rising at 4:45AM... needlessly early.

Since we can't come to a consensus on this issue, and you will never please everyone, just leave it the way it is.
Where in the country does the sun rise between 4 and 4:30 in the morning? I've never heard of it. I have lived in the northeast and southwest and don't recall that ever happening. It's more like 5:30 at the earliest. Prove me wrong.

As is the number of people who don't mind it setting at 9:30 or 10 in the summer on permanent DST.

Which is what likely will happen after a year or two of the change, just like fifty years ago.

I was thinking of waterfowl hunting. Ducks usually fly at first light while geese are typically an hour later. So we'd be seeing ducks at 9:30 instead if 7:30 and geese at 10:30.

How early do you need to do yard work? It's usually light out by 8 am everywhere no matter if one is on DST or Standard time. Most people don't appreciate you using electric garden tools until after that time anyway as many are still sleeping.

I sure wouldn't prefer doing yard work when it is hot as hell late in the afternoon. You'd prefer that?

Permanent Daylight Saving Time. Where I live, in June, the earliest sunrise is 5:11AM, with the first hint of twilight around 4:40AM. With Standard Time, that would be a 4:11AM sunrise with twilight at 3:40AM. WAY too early! But, on permanent DST, the latest sunrise would be 8:58AM on Winter Solstice. I enjoy the extra hour of evening light after work!!

If the govt passes a law eliminating the twice-yearly "Spring Forward, fall back" routine, which would you like to be on permanently?

Or would you like them to NOT pass this law, so we will keep changing the clocks twice a year?
I heard on a news segment today that Standard Time is more natural to the body's rhythms.

Even under Standard Time, it's dark in the mornings in the Winter. It's also dark when I get home. I'd rather have it lighter in the evening when I can use it.

Good article on how permanent DST would impact sunrise. Some of those on the western end of their respective time zones would have sunrise anywhere from 8:30 AM to 10:AM.
