Yes our consumption has dropped since our peak in 1973 because of gas shortages spurred action, still we are are way behind in our efforts. We were the worst polluter in the past so of course there was room for improvement. Germany which is a good comparison as another industrialized county has half our per capita consumption.

We need to do our part and stop rolling back methane restrictions on oil rigs, increased mileage requirements on cars and more EV production. Many things we could be doing but it becomes a political fight to keep the status quo.
Only way to really cut back is have a super bug take out 4 billion+ peeps. Less peeps= less demand. And still the ramp up in heating will take place.

Given the effect a post like this has, you might as well be leftist.

24.15 million, eh? 24 million wouldn't quite do it?

It's an important part of the liberal's inflated ego. "We're gods so we have to give government all the power to save the world. And we're gods so we have everyone come here and anything less is cruelty to them".

That would be avg new dist from the sun with my Orbit figures. It would still vary. Or just swap stars with a smaller one of the same class and keep our orbit as is. The day will come our sun will act up and it will be over rover out past 3.55 billion years.

We need a new planet and there are millions to pick from if we can ever lick the time speed thing.

I agree.

People don't realize how much power the US consumes because our new media across the board (Right and Left) do a horrible job of just explaining and comparing the actual numbers. I guarantee some here believe China uses much more power than the US because of the way stories in the news are written and told.

News media always uses narration and not just the factual numbers or figures to explain a situation or problem.

China does use more energy than the US, although not in per capita terms.

"Typically, climate scientists evaluate their models with data from historical weather records, such as satellite measurements, sea surface temperatures, wind speeds, cloud cover and other parameters. The model’s algorithms are then adjusted and tuned until their predictions mesh with the observed climate records. Thus, if a computer simulation produces a historically accurate climate based on the observations made during that time, it is considered fit to predict future climate with reasonable accuracy.

“Models tend to simulate the historic climate well but don’t do well for past climates that were much colder or warmer,” said study co-author Chris Poulsen, a professor in the U-M Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

“This is troubling if the models are used to predict future climates that will be well outside the historic climate range,” Poulsen said."

how stupid does a person have to be.....increasing CO2 emissions...increases atmospheric CO2

in the past 50 years....China has increased it's CO2 emissions over 10 times greater

in the past 50 years.....the USA has not

China uses more coal today than the rest of the world combined. China uses more coal today than the world produced in 1980.

China used 678819 thousand short tons in 1980
China used 4603771 thousand short tons in 2019
