Putin might have the upper hand and less to lose in the long-term compared to the U.S. & Western Europe...

Some Food For Thought (16 minute video)

A good portion of the world's fertilizer production (potash) is controlled by Russia, Belarus, and China.
This can dramatically affect global food prices.

Yep and once Russia gains control of Ukraines banks and finances, they are going to rape and pillage the whole thing. This is why I think the Oligarchs are all in with Putin on this, enduring all the sanctions and seizures temporarily, because they know they will come out ahead long term.

I don't listen to your propaganda.

A US president said that "Russia’s economy doesn’t produce anything that anybody wants to buy".

Might not be anything left. Ukraine politicians and their wives are leaving the country with suitcases full of money.

Latest one caught had 6 suitcases full of USD ($28 million) and Euros (1.6 million) going into Hungary.
Hungary said all her paperwork was in order.

I've heard liberals making fun of Russia for years now because most of what they export seems to be commodities. Liberals seem to look down people and countries that produce and bring to market vast quantities of basic commodities. But now that the commodities supercycle is underway and prices are surging for many basic commodities, liberals are not laughing... In fact, they should be worried, because they have been treating many of our nation's corporations that are involved in extracting/producing/refining commodities like the enemy. That has backfired and many corporations in the USA have pointed out how wrong that actually is for the times we are living in.

The 2 years of pandemic showed everyone how dependent countries are on each other.
And it's all but forgotten now.

No masks in the US because....we import 95% of them and countries stopped exporting to us.
Empty car lots because so many vehicles are imported.

Basic ingredients used to make food (gluten) are not made here anymore.

Putin may end up just as Mussolini. Both are/were quite smart.

Trump warned us about this and he tried to bring manufacturing back to America and he was trashed for trying.

Those that opposed him would often cite the higher cost of production here in the states but guess what, right now we are paying a higher price on goods that could be caught up in shipping problems resulting in empty shelves or even the shipments could be stopped due to geo political conflicts.

We can all live without the latest cars, cell phones and gadgets but when food gets scarce people are going to flip.

The worse is yet to come and the Biden admin is not up to the challenge.

Well, now if you want to buy gas, you buy it with rubles.
And, if you need to get rubles to pay for gas, you need to bring sellable merchandise into Russia, sell it, and buy gas based on those legally acquired funds. That’s what the g’ol USSR had as policy, and we are back to it.
Sounds like after they run gas pilot, they’ll switch everything to ruble.
And, add to this India buying from Russia in rubles, China going same route and, apparently, Emirates. A new currency zone is established, as I type.
