Saw the side by side pictures a few days ago (this is an old story), and joke's on them for doctoring the picture because the softer version makes him look more like a soft skinned man and and the original with goggle lines and rough skin ironically looks more like a real female swimmer
As a photographer, I would be irate if someone did this to my photographs. It goes against the ethics of photojournalism. Aside from sharpening photographs, editing should be an absolute minimum. I give the photog some credit for going public with this. Not sure how often NBC will use her work in the future. Sad.
What we have here is NBC acting like activists, not a news organization. Activists try and push a viewpoint onto you, news organizations just report current events.
Sadly, we have no news organizations left in the USA. Just activist organizations.
