EXCERPT FROM ABOVE, my italics and bold:

"Washington state’s bill also calls this [2030] a “target” rather than a “requirement” or a ban on gas vehicle sales, so it’s possible that some gas vehicle sales will still trickle through past the 2030 target. Gov. Inslee’s press office said that 2030 is a goal, but that 2035 is a requirement."
[end quote]

And also because, according to the article, non-electric cars cannot be be registered in the state of Washington after that date, my question is this: If people cannot afford electric vehicles and they do not live in a city or town with bus transportation, then what will be done in that case?

Does anyone know or would anyone care to make a guess?

Only Inslee is quite that stupid. He has been determined to destroy the state since he took office.

Costs will come down as they are produced in larger numbers. Same as anything else.

Eh, I doubt that. People will sue to keep gas cars on the market. And what's stopping people from just buying from out of state??????

Name ONE vehicle when costs went down. ONE. It's unheard of. And, Tesla et al already ramped up costs anyway. Cheapest EV starts at close to $40K for Leaf.

Perhaps I should have said, "Costs will come down relative to ICE cars."

As batteries become more and more of a mass-scale production item, their costs will come down. Their costs have already been dropping substantially.

So perhaps by Washington state's 2035 goal, electric and ICE autos will cost about the same.

And when you work on a farm, EV's produce nowhere near the horse power and torque that an ICE vehicle can. And Washington State has a lot of rugged landscape where EV's won't be able to handle the terrain.

But how long will the EV's last? I have a 93 pick up that is still going strong and I have had no problems taking care of all mechanical problems myself.

Elections coming up might change that. Either way, plenty of time to modify the rule about New cars.
