You are implying this war is solely Putins doing...that is completely wrong, MANY who hold power in Russia have the same opinions as Putin on this invasion, they are all in. Even if Putin was suddenly assassinated, the invasion of Ukraine would continue.
This is why all these so called tough sanctions, are not working to change Russian opinions, this invasion has been in the pipelines for a very long time, Russia has a goal of bringing Ukraine back under Russian control, and the whole country being part of Russia.
Yes...only Putin...he is the only one who calls the shots...no one else.
I hadn't known this but apparently it's unusual for generals to be killed in war. So it was notable when the first was killed, and even more when it was announced the other day that the fourth had been killed. Now it is reportedly up to seven.
When a country is so dependent on its military, and the military is seen to be directed by the whims of one man, who is increasingly thought not to be a rational actor - does it become likely that the military will revolt? There was a story of troops killing their own commander.
Probably the best-case scenario now is that the Russian military will take out Pupin and take their troops back to Russkie. I do find it fascinating that so many Russian Generals have allegedly been killed.

Lots of powerful Russians want the same thing for Ukraine as Putin does...its just not something we hear much about, the intent is to make people believe this is ONE GUYS war and his alone.
Think about it...it would be beneficial for the US, if Putin was ousted, and someone more friendly to the west was put into power in Russia...that is what the US govt is trying to make happen.

Two Lieutenant General's (2 Star) have been killed, with the other five being the equivalent to a one star general, which is Major General in the Russian Army.
About a thousand places on the internet plus the funerals in Russia.
But you will say they all all lying, so don't bother.
Hey!.... Maybe it's all a scam and Russia has the Ukes on the run. Could Be!

Putin calls the shots but he has a lot of support despite what your 6 o’clock news is trying to feed you. If Putin were killed the war would continue. Russia either wins this war and takes Ukraine or the nukes will begin flying. You can put your bottom dollar on it. Do you know what all in means? Russia is all in on this.
