Isn't this what the DeSantis wanted? If no one but parents should talk to kids about gender and sexuality, then all gender and sexuality references should be stripped from the public discourse. When will the bathrooms become gender neutral?
I used to like Disney. All the way back to my childhood. For the remainder of my years that I have on this earth, Disney will not receive directly or indirectly one red cent of my money. Goodbye and good riddance. And if you don’t think about 65 to 70% of the rest of Americans feel the way I do? Watch what happens to Disney over the next few years.
The Right’s Disney Freakout, that we are witnessing on this thread and on the several others that have appeared here on CD, is just more of the Fox-Florida-DeSantis-GOP axis of farcical fear mongering and is a planned operation to build acceptance and bogus justification for the latest batch of Republican legislation that attempts to take the nation back to the 1850s.
Yes, I said 1850s not just 1950s. From GOP senators making overt remarks and musings against interracial marriage to Republican governors banning the factual teaching of history to state legislatures' anti-gay, anti-women, anti-civil rights stances, the conservative MAGA agenda is clearly meant to mobilize the ignorant right against fellow citizens who look, think or act differently from them.
This latest Florida bill and Fox's bogus claims to justify it, by attacking Disney, are clearly aimed at garnering national support for DeSantis' sweeping censorship of classroom speech. Of course the GOP's anti-L.G.B.T.Q activists, misogynists and racists see this Disney attack as an opportunity to disingenuously outrage and deceitfully inflame their base into accepting more bills that are going to be even far more restrictive than anything the public would normally accept. It is a concerted campaign to create and stoke the Republican culture wars which really are a declaration of war on America, IMO.
This GOP produced Disney fear-mongering sideshow is yet another Republican performance, in a long line of pitiful performances brought by America's prejudiced party. A party that daily reveals it is thoroughly immune to fact and bereft of decency and stewing in bigoted hate.
