If you dont recall a week ago the top news story was a missing 7 hours of phone records during January 6th. News reporting stated Trump was using burner phones or had the record logs removed, even comparing it Nixons missing records on tape.
Well it turned out the media (CNN) had the reasonable explanation the entire time, however ran the headlines so the concern and public damage could be done to him while quietly redacting.
Anyone still taking what any legacy news outlet says about Trump at face value wants to be misled because it tickles the outrage nerve they've gotten addicted to having stimulated. That's the only logical explanation at this point.
Give them an inch and the take a mile. Give them a rumor and they will make it front page news headline FACT.
Of course it was bogus. How could Trump be on the phone from the WH when he was still talking at the rally while the mob was beginning their attack? Who would Trump have called anyway? The Dems make out like Trump could have told "his" people to stop by making some calls and turning to social media???
Did Trump call the Capital Police and tell them to stop sending reinforcements or did Pelosi call them and told them to stand down and let the riot unfold?
Who knows but we do know that the Democrats have used that day to erase the memories of 100 days of riots in their cities and to forever smear Trump as some kind of treasonous traitor.

Those calls would not be noted on the switchboard log.
The six pages of White House switchboard logs for January 6, 2021, are complete based on an official review of White House records, according to a source familiar with the matter. There are no missing pages and the seven-hour gap is likely explained by use of White House landlines, White House cell phones and personal cell phones that do not go through the switchboard.
And of course, they don't blame themselves for terrible reporting - the dog at their homework... the computer crashed before they could save their work... or this
The missing calls also underscore something more endemic: the imperfect and antiquated system of tracking a president's communications.
what if he took a nap. would that count as hours without a call. what if he wanted alone time to watch tv or read a book. and took no calls, maybe golf, would that count as no call time

The real problem is the middle who doesn't know what to decide or which source to listen to. Who do they trust? CNN? or Fox? MSNBC or Fox? CBS or Fox? and so on.
So they put their trust into which side has the most stories;
CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, NPR, NYT WaPo, .....
vs
Fox and the tinfoil hat talk show hosts.
See, when it's presented like that, the folks in the middle get fooled. That's all it's about, building enough confusion and smoke to get them to believe there must be something there.
Fact is many fake stories are put out there for a week and then a small correction so most people still believe the fake story. This is how they get the dumb ones to believe every fake story which are many many to smear Trump because they have nothing on Trump.
