Interesting story. But if you're a Rhodes Scholar and you pour coffee for a living, isn't that being severely underemployed?

I always though Starbucks charged way too much for, IMO, bad coffee.

If the unions come in, the prices will HAVE TO GO UP.

Could be the end of Starbucks.

Oh well, I don’t feel bad for Starbucks. It’s what they get for bowing to the progressives. Now that kindness will come back to bite them. They already offer their employees good wages and benefits. What more do they want?

Just like Godwin's law, every discussion of Starbucks will almost immediately devolve into a discussion of the quality and price of their product. At least you didn't say something along the lines of "I can make an entire pot of coffee at home for 25 cents and take it with me in a thermos" like you were on your way to work in a factory in 1956.

Look, I'm no defender of Starbucks, but sometimes when you're out and about you want a treat. I'm far more skeeved with their push towards reusable cups. Reminds me of the Soviet water vending machines with a glass on a chain.

The quality of Starbucks coffee is good. Only folks I know who seem to have an issue with it are those who weak Folgers type coffee is what they think coffee should taste like or on the other spectrum folks who think their automatic machines are not as good as hand made espresso coffee like they used to have. I was a barista in college so I can whip up a pretty good latte at home exactly how I like it for far less that at Starbucks.

Regarding this story. I think its time we make unions illegal in this country. We have too much wage pressure as it is. To me unions equal socialism or even communism. Should not exist in a free market.

I agree, let's start with law enforcement.

I like how they want to join a union but then ask "who will pay for our union dues" and the response was Starbucks will pay with increased salaries.

I think these young activists think a union will make them rich.

Collective bargaining is a useful tool for all workers. Especially ones who work for a company who recorded record profits and still refuse to provide a decent living wage for their workers while the CEO gets another multi-million dollar bonus. Workers at Starbucks, REI and wherever else, have my support.

Interesting view from people who love freedom so much they want to ban unions though.

Lets start with the private sector unions. I am fine also with making collective bargaining illegal and banning public sector unions who manage to push these inflated pensions that bankrupt states and cities.
