Haven’t seen the video, but no doubt a group of Rabbis disrespected the Amish and their woodworking skills. Obviously, a gunfight would eventually breakout.

Not saying this to minimize the horror of this shooting, but at least it wasn't a random public spree killing event.

^ That’s a different homicide event that occurred on 3/1 inside a church where a bio dad was intended to have a supervised visit with his children. He killed his 3 children and church chaperone. The shooter then killed himself.

Seriously, I wonder how many of these criminals had previous felonies dropped by the State?

How many were released from prisons way too early or actually never were sent to prison?

How many of these criminals never made it to prison, but only given “supervised” probation?
All questions that should be answered. But the powers to be won't. They'd rather take the easy route and blame an inanimate object.

Thank you for the 2021 update.

On a national basis we are on an upward trend and have a long, long way to go to set a new record.

This perpetrator of the single largest mass shooting in US history killed 60 and wounded 411 in Las Vegas. He had no priors.

When shooters are captured dead or alive, disclosure of background is common and reported. Parole is hindsight, depending on the convict’s subsequent behaviors.

The US really needs to explore offshoring incarceration. Prisons are often overcrowded and the cost of incarceration ranges from $14-70,000 per prisoner depending on level of security, what’s included/ excluded, state and where in state.

This may or may not be true, but “I” can guarantee that if you or a loved one is shot and/or killed, yours or their death is far beyond some “new record.”

This is the problem of half the country, who feel comfortable in saying “well, it isn’t that bad.” Well, if you live in a depressed area of any urban center these days, it’s bad.

One of the reasons why it’s bad these days is that the criminal justice system is officially broken. And it didn’t help with our society demonizing the police to a point where many retired early or simply move onto a different career. Now, top that off with a decrease in police recruitment, especially men and women of Color.

Being a person of Color, half Black, it is bad out there and to the point, I see, first hand, the destruction within the Black and Brown communities in my area.

Not only do you see it, you feel it.

So please stop saying it isn’t that bad cuz it is. Trust me, many Black folks don’t want to be outside when it starts to get dark.

PS, Black people are not being lynched or murdered in mass number by White folks, we are our own worst enemy since Black on Black violence has exploded.

There is a huge difference between being aware and actual violence.

There are more firearms than people in the US. This horse left the barn a long time ago. And there’s no going back.
It has zilch to do with firearms. It has everything to do with the moral decay of the country.

Absolutely this, and other factors. Firearms are only an issue for those willing to ignore the law, and kill others.

The findings align with a separate tabulation of the nation’s murder rate published in September by the FBI.

First of all, reread your own source. Your source doesn't disprove what she said, because what she said is true. It's the biggest one year increase in history. But from 1995-2020 depending on the city, violent crime decreased for 25-30 years straight... Murders which isn't the same as violent crime reached record lows around 2012-2014, before hovering around the same number for the rest of the 2010s, then increasing from 2019 to 2020.

2020 homicide rate is still lower than nearly the entirety of the 1980s and 1990s, for most cities and the country as a whole. It's roughly the same level as maybe the late 1990s/early 2000s or 1970s.

Property crime and violent crime has been decreasing outright, and in 2018/2019 was lower than the 1960s which was the lowest crime has ever been in history.

While that is true, 2020(with 21,570) homicide count was almost identical to what it was in 1995(21,610). But because there are 65 million more people in this country than back then is why the homicide rate is not as high in comparison.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/...us-since-1990/

It is also true that 2020 was largest single year increase in homicides that the US has seen in at least one century.. However, for all the talk saying the large amount of immigration have been a detriment for this country, they are a part of the reason why the murder rate for the past two years has been kept below what it was during the mid 90s.
