I could replace my entire engine and drive train for less than the costs of replacing an EV battery plant.

What?

Our power grid goes down every month. That has no real effect on anything.

I do not understand why you would think that it would have some effect?

so we just believe the commercials as fact? Sort of like the world is going to end in 12 years due to climate change, but since no one has gone into the future to disprove it yet, that's the point.

The Bollinger B-1 Utility truck is EV and it can easily tow your boat even while off-roading, or while climbing Pikes Peak.

What commercials? Tesla does not do commercials.

That depends very much on what you drive.

A spartan long block kit for my Jeep diesel is $10,500. Complete engine $22,750 in the box.

Wouldn’t want to keep an ICE going that long. Think of all the maintenance. I’ve never owned a car long enough to put 450k miles on it, have you?
My Prius Prime is at 180k, service manager expects it to pass 300k before we have any need to do any diagnostics on the battery.

You mean like failure of the electric grid? Yeah, that’s a tiny disruption. You might only have no heat or a/c, possibly no way to cook food, no lighting or electronics, no internet, etc. Yeah, tiny disruption.

I could, but wouldn’t need to, because the failure rate is infinitesimally smaller than complex mechanical systems. I’ve fixed enough ICE vehicles to be done with that mess. But if you enjoy tinkering, more power to you. Enjoy the symphony of moving parts that is an ICE vehicle.
Yeah, I've never had electric motors burn out on anything in my life. Just never happens. Uh huh.

Right. The bottom line is electrics can and will deliver 150-200 foot pounds or more of very low RMP torque to each wheel when needed. Outside range issues which will improve the live performance of EVs is just amazing.

You are trying to compare an automobile engine to a factory?

Well, of course an entire factory with hundreds of employees is going to be more expensive than a single car engine. Duh!
