Another massively important point related to establishing a sustainable peace I've forgot to mention is the issue of the necessity of both Russia and Ukraine guaranteeing the rights of minorities living in their territories , particularly in the wake of a popular referendum that would result in boundary changes .

If for example the majority of the inhabitants of Crimea were to vote in favor of joining Russia , then the Russian government would have to guarantee the Crimean Tatars the right to use their own language to conduct official business as well as maintain their own cultural institutions and historical monuments to name the quite possibly three most important aspects of ethnic minority rights in Europe which cause controversy to this very day .

Other ethnic minorities would obviously have to get the same guarantees from the Russian state , including Ukrainians remaining in newly attached territories of Russia and also those who have already been living in the contemporary Russian Federation since its formation .

The Ukrainian state would likewise have to guarantee the same to those Russians , Belarusians , Rusyns , Hungarians , etc. , who would continue to live on its territory .

Naturally both states would have to do much to rein in those pot stirring radical groups which provoke minorities in both countries , not necessarily by banning them , but by stridently punishing them if they were to cross the line from simply shouting to vandalism/arson/assault and so forth .

I must once again emphasize that I am not writing in favor of the indispensable breakup of Ukraine in its current form , I'm only pointing out the obvious problems inherent in maintaining the unity of such a large state with artificially created ethnolinguistic boundaries , and suggesting that were a popular referendum under unbiased as possible international monitoring to be undertaken in parts of Ukraine currently under dispute then the way out of the current debacle could possibly be shown .

And in closing I'll merely state that peace is in the interest of all average citizens who have been made parties to this unfortunate conflict .

It's most certainly in the interest of those Ukrainians who are seeing their homes destroyed and lives upended as a result of this madness , as it is of both those Russian and Ukrainian soldiers who are being killed for no good reason so that their families can grieve at the actions of warmongers .

Average Europeans are also within the interest of peace , what with them already seeing hikes in prices and being subjected to fear not seen in a long time , as are average Americans who have ( just like their European counterparts ) already been fleeced of their tax dollars and may even have to look forward to losing many of their loved ones again .

Peace is only not in the interest of the same cadre of dastardly elites , reigning from their ivory towers in Kyiv/Moscow/Brussels/Washington who alone reap the rewards of this utterly senseless and avoidable calamity .

A new anti war movement is sorely needed .

And while I'm not a pacifist or much of a fan of Lennon/Yoko , I still say that peace must be given a chance :

The only way for true lasting peace is to repatriate the ethnic Russians of eastern Ukraine back to Russia, the way British colonists left India after British colonization or how the French left Haiti and Algeria. The Russians in eastern Ukraine are descended from settlers sent there by the Soviet Union and have no birthright to live on ethnic Ukrainian land. Either that or they will have to swear a loyalty oath to Ukraine and assimilate into Ukrainian culture (they should still be allowed to speak Russian, but they should have to learn the Ukrainian language something most ethnic Russians refuse to do), the way its proposed Israeli Arabs have to swear loyalty to Israel and accept it as a Jewish state, and how the whites in South Africa today have accepted that South Africa belongs to the black race and they have accepted black control. The ethnic Russians in Ukraine should do this or they should return to Russia. Perhaps the international community can provide funds to help these people return to Russia. After WW2, many ethnic Germans were transferred to Germany because WW2 proved they were not loyal to the other countries they lived in. When India and Pakistan split there was a population exchange. Same with the breakup of Yugoslavia.

Ukraine is ethnic Ukrainian land and ethnic Russians do not have an inherent right to live there. Before 2014, when the ethnic Ukrainians took back control of their country (similar to the end of apartheid when blacks took back control of their land), Ukraine was under minority ethnic Russian control and native Ukrainians had no rights hence the 2014 revolution against the ethnic Russian dictatorship. The USSR should really be seen as a colonial empire ("evil empire" isn't too far from the truth).

Some like to say "what about the US and the Native Americans" but times are different today. Rules are different now. Its no longer okay for one country to invade another and attempt to wipe out its indigenous race just because they want their land. This is the year 2022. In fact Putin is worse than Saddam Hussein in Desert Storm because while Iraq wanted to rule Kuwait they didn't attempt a genocide of the Kuwaiti people the way the Russians are trying to annihilate Ukraine's native ethnicity.

And of course the Nationalist government in Kiev never forgot that.

That's why people of Mariupol are used as the live shield until today with the Nazi Battalion stationed there to keep them under its thumb all these years.

That's why Donbass was not allowed to participate in the last parliamentary elections - all 500,000 people.
And that's why of course when some "Tochka U" missile flies into the crowd in Kramatorsk, I think first of all that it came from Ukrainian Army, and not Russia or LDNR.

One has to know the background, the whole history of "internal relations" there in Ukraine in the first place, before pointing at "Russia-Russia-Russia" as the culprit of it all.
You are clearly a Russian troll, or an ethnic Russian living in the US whose loyalties lie with Russia and not with the United States.

What the Russians are doing is the equivalent of France deciding the Louisiana Purchase was a mistake and landing an invasion force in New Orleans to reclaim their old territories or Belgium sending an army to Africa to recreate the Belgian Congo.
