I’d wager because Maine is more rural than Florida, less densely populated.

They say that the dozen states with the highest death rates were all ones with Republican governors.

How does Ron DeSantis sleep at night?
Until now, we’ve known that covid-19 death rates were higher among the unvaccinated, and also higher in counties that went for Donald Trump, whose supporters were more likely to resist vaccinations, masks and other pandemic precautions.
Now that the omicron wave is over, a couple of new analyses of state-by-state data both point to an inescapable conclusion: Living in states run by a Republican governor is dangerous to your health.

The article says it's opinion. I can't read it, because I won't pay money to read a partisan rag, but the stats I am looking at say that the state with the most deaths was California (D), followed by Texas (R), Florida (R), New York (D), Pennsylvania (D), Ohio (R), Illinois (D), Georgia (R), Michigan (D), and New Jersey (D), Arizona (R) and Tennessee (R). So half of the top dozen were lead by Dems. Hardly "all" with Republican governors.

When you look at deaths per million population, Mississippi (R) is the top spot, followed by Arizona (R), Alabama (R), Tennessee (R), West Virginia (R), New Jersey (D), Arkansas (R), Louisiana (D), Michigan (D), Oklahoma (R), New York (D) and Georgia (R). Eight out of twelve were led by Republican governors, so again, hardly "all". And Florida is nowhere on this list, which is a more accurate way to count covid deaths.

Maine is one of the best. Top 5. California is tied with Florida and many deep blue states are the worst (NY, Massachusetts) as well as some deep red (Mississippi).

The thing you guys don’t understand is that deaths rose in most categories. Around 6% in all categories.

However, death from diabetes rose 17% in all age groups due to the price of insulin. In the age group 25-44 it rose 30%. This affected just about all states but ones with insulin price controls like Maine.

uhm

population per square mile in Maine... 43.1
population per square mile in Maine... 414

population of seniors over 65, in Florida 4.5m
population of seniors over 65, in Maine 285k

what did Maine do better...hmmm...20 times LESS seniors, and 10 time less people per square mile...

IOWs, Maine didn't do anything better, you are comparing apples to coconuts

Maine has very low density population. Not much opportunity to gather in large groups there. The stores are never crowded. Makes a difference for a contagious disease.

yes, like all good leftist media, they're good at finding statistics to support their position.

Imagine with a deadly virus, instead proclaiming a Governor was somehow responsible.

And singling out the one Governor that they fear the most politically.

and some slurp it up like a cat and a warm bowl of milk.

you could compare Maine to a similar-sized county if you wished ....

Maine: 1,372K population; 21% 65+; 237,000 cases, 2,200 deaths.
Wake County, NC: 1,150K population; 12% 65+; 290K cases, 1,000 deaths

In other words, you can cherry-pick data and comparisons all day long to reach a conclusion you wish to promote.

According to this website she would be wrong. As Michigan, New York, New Jersey, and Louisiana have Democrats for governors and are in the top 12. Also there are more Republican governors so you would expect more in the top 12.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/...s-us-by-state/

Also, obesity makes someone 3 to 10 times more likely to die of covid. The covid death rates by states seems to follow obesity rates in the US.

She seems really good at statistics *snicker*, no agenda whatsoever!

Yeah, Republicans never do anything for anybody. Poor Abe Lincoln, signing the Emancipation Proclamation freeing the slaves. Can’t get his just credit from Elvis.
