In 2018, the National Science Foundation approved $495,847 for Amy Robertson and the Rev. W. Tali Hairston to research ways to improve physics education. And here's what that half a million dollars of taxpayer money has produced:
Quote:
I. INTRODUCTION
Critical Race Theory names that racism and white supremacy are endemic to all aspects of U.S. society, from employment to schooling to the law [1–7]. We see the outcomes of this in, for example, differential incarceration rates, rates of infection and death in the era of COVID, and police brutality. We also see the outcomes of this in physics. For example, the American Physical Society [8] reports that whereas almost 16% of the U.S. population aged 20–24 years is Black, only 3% of bachelor’s degrees in physics and 1.8% of doctorate degrees are awarded to Black students. This is in contrast to about 73% of the U.S. population aged 20–24 being white,1 and 72% and 75%, respectively, of bachelor’s and doctorate degrees being awarded to white students. Critical Race Theory would cite this as evidence that white supremacy, or the “systemic maintenance of the dominant position that produces [w]hite privilege” [5], is shaping degree granting (and all of the processes and practices therein) in physics.

For physics educators and physics education researchers, this outcome and others like it motivate questions about what is happening, at the level of classrooms and universities, that constructs and maintains whiteness...

The latest salvo on the science front involves an article titled "Observing whiteness in introductory physics: A case study." Physics professor Amy Robertson and her collaborator Tali Hairston use critical whiteness studies (CWS) and critical race theory (CRT) to interpret a case study of three students working on a mundane physics problem. The article has—unsurprisingly—drawn harsh criticism online.

However, the high-profile publication venue (one of the most prestigious education journals in the physics community) and the public resources underwriting the work (a $495,847 grant from the National Science Foundation) indicate that the intrusion of CRT into physics has become mainstream. Those who value rigorous science and rational analysis cannot afford to merely mock this work. We must instead shine light on it, demonstrate how stifling and unproductive CRT and CWS can be when applied to science classrooms...

They intentionally left out referencing the asian 25% in order to push a black vs. white narrative.

Weird how when people are attacking asians it's white supremacy and evil racist whites.

But then we see them dominating STEM fields like math, physics etc. and um, that's white supremacy um.....against blacks!

Clearly the solution is to stop testing math and using exams like the SAT. Physics is easy to major in, you don't need to have a good foundation in mathematics, easy peasy......<sigh> and they wonder why the drop rates from STEM majors are so skewed.

Waste of money. I thought we came to the conclusion that everything is racist and solely due to White supremacy. Black on Asian hate crimes, trees, rope, cars, wind, mathematics, school grades, water, Academy Awards, physics, etc…

Damn straight. Why should I accept "that a body remains at rest, or in motion at a constant speed in a straight line, unless acted upon by a force" because some old white guy said it does. I don't accept it. It's racist.

Demonic stuff IMO...

When you start subjecting the laws of physics to this insanity, it can be dangerous in the long run.

What are we going to say... gravity affects me differently than white men? Evidence... Michael Jordan versus Larry Bird... gravity obviously affected them differently in basketball

Whites engineered 99% of the technology society takes for granted today. Take your CRT and shove it, libbies. Be grateful you have things like smartphones, electricity, running water, antibiotics, medications, automobiles, transatlantic flights, skyscrapers, etc. Who do you think engineered all this stuff? I'm grateful to the culturally inferior underclasses for being the slave labor that built much of it, by the way. That includes the Chinese. Bow to the obviously intellectually superior cultures of people and be grateful for what you have. I'm not paying you just to exist because you think you are oppressed. If you don't like it, get out. Shut up, get a job, adopt a good non entitled attitude, and thrive, which is what America is for, not sporting a victim complex and begging for handouts. With the right attitude any individual can achieve anything in this country. NOBODY is oppressing you except your own victim complex.
