Its strange, back in the 70s, 80s and 90s, when gang members killed each other, it wasnt a big deal to many people, it was just the way it was...

today though, people seem to view this entirely different for some reason, of course, non gang members getting hit in the crossfire was always possible, but it was much different in the 80s and 90s, even to the police, if it was gang related, it was not taken as seriously...that is just how it was.

It was in a mall. Fifteen people, none of them gang members, one of them a 73 year old woman, were injured in the shooting. Last I heard, she was still in the hospital. People care about that. On the other hand, threads about (mostly gang) shootings in Chicago get more mileage on City Data than this one is getting and for the most part, only gang members are getting hit in Chicago.

The suspect arrested yesterday had his first bond hearing today and the previous suspect arrested had his second bond hearing. Luckily for upstanding citizens of Columbia and the surrounding area, neither hearing went very well for the suspects. Marquise Robinson got the bad news first. He is facing nine counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, attempted murder, and unlawful carry of a handgun. Each of the assault and battery charges carries a maximum penalty of 20 years.

Quote:
In denying bond, Judge Jessica Mangum said she was worried Robinson was a flight risk and a danger to the community.
Next up was JeWayne Price, who by now is probably getting the hang of bond hearings.

Quote:
He was previously arrested Saturday in connection in the case on a weapons charged and had a $25,000 bond set. However, a new hearing had to take place because charges were upgraded to the same counts as Robinson faces.
This seems to suggest what I have been saying since yesterday afternoon's presser with Columbia Chief of Police Skip Holbrook, that Price was never, in fact, released from jail on Sunday. In any event, Judge Mangnum denied bond for him for the same reasons she denied bond to the other suspect. Prosecutors referenced new details in court by saying according to video surveillance from the scene, all three suspects appeared to have fired. Police are still looking for th third suspect and there is a $10,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.

Judge denies bond for two of the suspects in Columbiana Centre mall shooting, third still at large

The third suspect, Amari Sincere-Jamal Smith, is now in a Lexington County, South Carolina cell after turning himself in.

All three suspects are now in jail. One person remains in the hospital, a 73 year old woman, from her injuries.
