We Americans crave violence. Everyone wants to be a thug or gangster but most are only willing to do it within the confines of the law.

Fire extinguishers don't kill people.

So yeah not buying it. Shooting someone was most certainly not the last thing Kyle Rittenhouse wanted to do. Staying in the safety of his home and minding his own business was apparently the LAST thing he wanted to do.

lots of stats on that website. I notice they don't seem to break down anything by law abiding / illegal firearm?

The good guys with guns are probably not hanging out at house parties in the ghetto. Are you expecting them to do anything but defend themselves if confronted by criminals? The good guys with guns are not the Police and they do not have the authority or the interest in getting involved. Nice try scooter.

Where are all the good guys with guns?

They are laying low for fear the govt-uber-alles devotees we have in power today will illegally arrest them and sue them for exercising their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Anything else you need explained to you?

Rich heiress, animal lover on hunting land, opinionated independent woman, ex Spook........I am probably in the target category on at least half a dozen lists.

These threads are based on a stupid premise. Predictably, the discussion which follows is at least as stupid.

Uncharacteristically, I'm staying out of this gun thread. It's simply too ridiculous, and that's usually not a deterrent, so it's really saying something.

If you were honest you would know that he had no choice when he fired.

Thousands actually.
You sure about your statement about the right to carry being infringed.

South Carolina has some pretty liberal gun carrying laws......still lots of gun violence......

Well while it might be difficult to find examples of media coverage about " good guys with guns stopping bad guys " type news in the USA at the present time , such things certainly have happened in other countries not so long ago : https://www.npr.org/2022/03/22/10881...=1650429524063

AFAIK nobody really gets in trouble in Israel for shooting attackers or even intruders since the Shai Dromi case ( https://www.longhornproject.org/problems/attacks/ ) ended and gun laws were relaxed in 2018 ( https://edition.cnn.com/2018/08/21/m...ntl/index.html ) .

Naturally the political climate in Israel is such that makes measures like this possible , however there are quite a few jurisdictions in the USA that make such actions legal as well unless I'm mistaken .

Going anecdotal as the holder of a concealed carry permit in an EU country ( Slovakia ) , I can also attest as other posters have that the simple fact of drawing my gun quite possibly saved my life when local drunks drew their switchblades in the few instances where I've almost been attacked in this part of the world .

In fact over in the Czech Republic ( where its much easier to carry concealed ) a woman actually got a medal for intervening when some wastrel attacked an innocent couple on a tram some years back , though I unfortunately can't find an English language news link right now , obviously making this a take in good faith claim .

IMHO unsurprisingly the Czech Republic and Slovakia have never experienced mass killings the way France and Norway have , two countries where it's impossible for the average citizen to obtain a concealed carry permit .
