How is having state employees get reviewed every 5 years being a "dictator"?

It's common sense. And long overdue.

Why call it a political stunt? I've seen many teachers that have tenure and do little when it comes to actually teaching. They should get evaluations every year as far as I'm concerned. We talk about term limits for politicians which I'm in favor of but yet whine at whine at making those who teach our children and shape their futures accountable?

It does nothing of the sort. BEING the best means you are retained. Just like every other job on the planet.

This is just the education version of a union. If you manage to stick it out long enough, you become immune to termination, unless you do something heinous.

DeSantis just committed political suicide. His career is finished. That loud sucking sound is money getting taken from the taxpayers wallets in Orange County as they have to foot the bill for his woke fight with Disney. He has to win the argument and the the result is a huge tax increase on county residents. He also did this in a county where a lot of democrats are elected to high office. DeSantis is dumber than trump.

He handed Democrats the baseball bat to beat him with.

Pay them more and abolish tenure. Problem solved.

Freeloaders get fired, the best are retained and rewarded. Government bureaucracies, and yes, public universities are government bureaucracies, are ALWAYS bloated because they always carry too much dead weight. Shed the dead weight and they'll be able to pay the remaining bureaucrats market rate.

5 years is a long time without a review. Performance should be reviewed every semester.

When I was in college I worked for a Deans office. A new Dean came in and looked at work loads. He found the newer and largely female Professors were teaching far more classes than anybody else and were receiving much less pay than tenured Professors. There were two in particular that were real pieces of work. One who for the last decade had taken over half a floor of a building to run research studies. Every time one would expire his team would search out additional grants. He didnt teach a single class during that time. The most amazing thing I saw was a professor who had been there 30 years for the last ten he had never even showed up in the building accept to pick up his mail. He just kept publishing books and getting his name out there. When the new Dean tried to change things those powerful faculty members managed to get him fired.
