I really like this overview by conservative columnist Bret Stephens.

Millions of people admire Zelensky, but he sums it up nicely. It's worth reading the whole piece.

Why We Admire Zelensky
We admire Zelensky because he models what a man should be: impressive without being imposing; confident without being cocksure; intelligent without pretending to be infallible; sincere rather than cynical; courageous not because he is fearless but because he advances with a clear conscience. American boys in particular, raised on preposterous notions of what manhood entails, should be steered toward his example.

An inspiring leader, standing up for freedom - he has risen to the moment. I'm glad America and the western allies are supporting the fight against autocracy and terror.

Lefties mocked Putin for being short compared to other world leaders, at 5 foot 7 inches tall. But then I looked up Mr Zelensky's height, and to my surprise, what did I find out??? Why, he's the same height as Putin, at 5 foot 7 inches tall. Nary a whisper from lefties.

Only one sided narratives. I don't need to be told what to think about these people. I'm well grounded enough to know that the aggressor (Putin) is in the wrong and using substantial amounts of propaganda on his people to control a one sided narrative. That doesn't mean we have to do the same thing here. It was bad enough how you all behaved while Trump was president, but at least Putin minded his manners and everyone got along. This crap right here, right now, is not cool. There's no other way to spin it. It should not be happening. We don't need propaganda to tell us that.

I understand narratives are being formulated by both sides, and both sides will utilize puff pieces and outright propaganda, if deemed necessary. I wonder how it would have worked out for the world if the USA media portrayed a positive image of Trump while he was president, and then he went on to win in a landslide. And there you go, no Putin invading Ukraine, very few Americans knowing the colors of the Ukraine flag, and almost no Americans knowing or carrying who Mr Zelensky is.

It's a shame. Even if Putin had invaded on Trump's watch, Trump wouldn't hesitate to organize European forces alongside US forces to deal with Putin's second rate army. Right now, they seem content just funneling weapons to Ukraine, and off into the void they go, unaccounted for from that point on I would guesstimate. And people wonder why drug cartels are carrying around bigger guns than their governments in many countries.

He poked the bear. Literally. Not fawning, admiring.

He sure has risen to the moment. Agree... not fawning, but definitely admiring.

OH, so Zelensky is a hero for outlawing political parties against him. I'm anti-war and can't support the Ukraine or Russia.
