Which leads to the question of why the US is even trying to do anything in the first place, other than wait for the result?

I feel like Macron is colluding with the US Democrats to manufacture the result that they all want.

Also, the lies being told are ridiculous. That Le Pen is an admirer of Putin. That she is a racist. That’s absurd.
Source? Would be useful to know what you're calling "monitoring" or whom is making the claim.

However even Macron realises the renewed importance of NATO due to current Russian aggression and the situation in Ukraine.

Now it seems that to the US, Macron is now the lesser of two evils, as Le Pen is also not Pro-EU and has doesn't support US foreign policy.

I don't think Le Pen would be an ally to Putin, however before the Ukrainian war she did support some of Putin's views on certain issues.

As for monitoring, I take it that means looking for interference or collusion, as well as foreign disinformation in relation to the election, which is something the US has not been able to prevent in relation to it's own elections.
We might be better off. France has been more of a liability than a help in past wars and they tend to switch to the side winning at the time.

Taken directly from video I watched on NBC. “Monitoring” is the exact verbiage used.

Based on previous US history, I’ll be willing to bet it’s a lot more than just “monitoring”. The leftists in Europe helped the DNC in 2020, so you can be certain of reciprocity.

“Monitoring” is just a weird way to state it. If you aren’t planning on intervening, why say “monitoring”? Is this a veiled threat to right wing French people? Either vote the way we want you to, or there will be consequences. We are monitoring you.

It's heartwarming that the global leader in regime change took time out of its busy schedule to monitor these elections.

Trump and his hellspawn support Le Pen. That's a good enough reason for thinking people to support Macron.
