Among other flaws, capitalism and socialism both require economic growth to work. We are past the growth stage. The US economy is contracting in a long bumpy ride down for the next few centuries. Some new and more sustainable economic system will eventually evolve.
Socialism and capitalism are both 18th/19th century constructs and are of no relevance going forward.
0 year - a baby is born. All the hospital fees are paid by the government. The parents get paid maternity leaves.
1-6 years - the baby gets free kindergarten, free healthcare.
6-19 years - the teenager studies for free, gets all kinds of free food and help
19-25 years - she is a university student, everything is free
25-65 years - now she realizes that she has to pay 60% of her salary in taxes to fund kids and retired. It's a perfect time to immigrate to a place with much lower taxes.
65 years - it's a good time to return back and live on an excellent government pension.

I also feel capitalism is going out the door for something different in the future or a hybrid of systems. Capitalism as practiced in 1st world countries including the US is already a Quasi Capitalism/Socialism system in many respects, just seems the country refuses to admit it.
-We do not allow businesses to fail if it will hurt the economy and "workers"
-Farm Bills are mainly bailouts
-We give subsidies to Big oil. Big Pharma, Electric car programs, wind farms, on and on
-Social programs are popular, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security
-The military is also a jobs program in the US
-Most states require additional funding from the Federal Government to remain solvent due to social programs for that state's citizens
Our economy is more like a fence-sitter than a Capitalist system. Our economy teeters on the edge of socialism and Capitalism because we have yet to decide what our economy should look like in the coming future given the constant change that technology brings.

She also realizes that her American and Australian coworkers make 250% of what she does for the same job, AND take home 75% of what they make.

She also realizes that Scandinavia has an absurd 25% VAT.
But once her American coworker wants to give a birth, she must buy a $500/month insurance.
Many employers offer insurance at no cost to the employee. Most multinationals are in this bucket.

Many employers voluntarily offer paid maternity leave, or she can save part of her enormous paycheck to tide her over during her unpaid maternity leave. Most multinationals offer some kind of maternity, paid or otherwise.

No she doesn't. She can take her big paycheck and put some of it toward that kid's kindergarten.
So Socialism really means a European or more specifically Scandinavian social welfare state which is more generous than the American version.
Fine. Why don't you guys simply call for that rather than stupidly throwing the word Socialism around? I mean, if you want to convince your fellow citizens to emulate Denmark, do you think using a word that best describes Venezuela is a wise move?
Of course, you all seem to leave out that one detail-- TAXES, and lots of them. I sincerely doubt all you young bohos with your manbuns want to pay more. And you will pay more, just as they do in Copenhagen. Ain't no big tax hike on the rich gonna do what you are calling for to happen.
