They pay taxes and contribute to the economy. But if it's getting out of control than our government should do something but they never will because they can't agree on anything. Having a wall is not a solution. It's just putting a band aid on it.
How about the people that live here and have to pay for their healthcare, schooling etc etc.. I’ve got a lot of family and friends in healthcare, you have no idea what their costing us.

Illegals are a net drain(taxes), and help greedy business owners only. How does that help Americans? Business will charge what the market will bare, nothing less for sure.

Any and all efforts to impede illegal travel into this country should be implemented; including a wall.

Last issue is the “better life” punch line. I’ve never seen so much nefarious behavior taken to attain better lives. This isn’t a zero sum game here. You think this issue doesn’t contribute to income inequality, environmental degradation, tribalism?

Oh cry me a river. These illegals are getting hurt breaking the law because we are trying to stop them from breaking the law which is our right! Even their injuries that we have to pay for doesn't begin to compare to what they cost us by safely getting into our country.

I guess we should remove the bank guards from the bank because the thieves may get shot trying to rob the bank? The list goes on and on of how we take measures to protect our private residences and businesses but it's not right because a thief may get hurt violating these safety measures?
What do you expect from a cbs station?

Nice try at deflection though.
Laugher #1 -- Define "breaking the law" (your words). How are these walls not comparable?

Laugher #2 -- You said banks have guards. They don't.

There is a "law of diminishing returns". That means the cost of attaining a goal exceeds the value of the goal itself. Paying $30,000 salary to a guard to prevent a $3,000 theft. Surrendering our reputation as a civilized culture to punish people seekimg a lifestyle that you were fed on a silver spoon.

Try answering in more detail than "not comparable" and "Irregardless".[/quote]

Illegal aliens cost us over $100 billion a year. A one time cost of a competed $25 billion wall is far less and is 90% effective in deterring illegal entry. Do the math!

No, we punish law breakers and rightly so! Wanting a better life does not justify breaking laws nor does taking from others what doesn't belong to them. What part of that don't you get?

We are uncivilized by not taking in every poor an needy person in the world??? We allow in over 1 million legal immigrants a year in keeping with our ability to provide them with jobs and resources without it negatively impacting our own citizens. You bleeding hearts and ethnocentrics don't give a damn about our own citizen's rights and needs though, do you?

My proposal: Everyone who wants in gets a personal pass for two years. He can stay provided he maintains a regular job and suitable housing, and is crime-free. After that probation, his status is reviewed favorably, and he can be joined by his family.

Tell me why you object to that? Insstsead of climbing a wall, a Mexican only needs to ask an ICE officer "I'd like a work pass, por favor".

The same inept thinking the administration is using to stop menthol cigarettes, which are used by approx. 640K POC. Over 100K people died last year from Fentanyl coming into this country illegally and the administration is focused on stopping menthol cigarettes?

Come on, you know how that works. A work visa takes years, and requires finding a job offer before you apply.

Funny story. Remember a Mexican place-kicker Rafael Septien, with the LA Rams, 1977? To sign him as a free agent, the Rams had to prove that they tried and failed to find an American job applicant who was just as good. They held an open tryout at the Coliseum, and hundreds of bums and riffraff turned up to try out for Septien's roster spot. This is the kind of common sense you get when you let government govern.

Government shouldn't govern? Laws shouldn't be implemented and enforced for the good of our own citizens?

The penalty for illegal entry into the USA is laughable. No congress or administration has attempted to make harsher penalties or to deport the millions who are here today.

The bleeding hearts think they have a duty to save the whole world.

Then there are hard nosed dug in only a wall will stop them people.

None of them are willing to compromise.

And that's what it will take to stop this mess. So, IMO, we will still be arguing immigration 50 years from now.

Yep, many many people rely on masses of illegal immigrants flowing into the country.

If our govt wanted to stop or drastically reduce the number of illegal entries, it could do so very quickly...and if you notice, this doesnt change despite which party has power at any given time, its the SAME all the time. Even when Trump was president, there were 10s of 1000s of illegals flooding in.
