At least in some states, such as Oklahoma, the people have the power to petition for a vote to so much as put a right to abortion in their state constitutions. Oklahoma Republican legislative leaders in seeing that possibly coming are going to try to make the petitioning requirements much more difficult to meet and require a 60% yes vote to pass. Fortunately, it will require the vote of the people to make such changes.

How is what obvious? Trump is neither president nor a Supreme Court Justice

The Supreme Court needs to ground its decision in the Constitution - not public opinion. Our elected leaders are the ones who are supposed to respond to public opinion.
If we don’t regain control of the house and senate this year, our country is finished.

Why risk it over some crusade over abortion? Is it really worth it?

Yes, our Founders would object to many things we do, including allowing Roe V Wade to stand at the Federal level. They would support returning the issue to the states.

Yeah, the leak was clearly an effort to undermine this decision. The lunatics are already protesting outside the Supreme Court about this decision.

The same people cheering will be the ones who are in 20 years complaining when these children born into bad situations are terrorizing their neighborhoods after growing up.

“We care about the children”. Right, until they’re born poor. Then it’s “you’re on your own”.

Not everyone gets PTO. Some people lose their jobs if they miss a day or two of work. Then there is travel time, travel expense, hotel, meals out, finding a doctor or facility in a strange area, childcare expense if there are other children at home.

Don't minimize the effort it would take for some women to pull this off. Not everyone is accustomed to hopping a plane every few weeks to go on vacation. An abortion is no vacation, mentally or physically.

ABC/Washington Post found those supporting keeping Roe outnumbered those wishing it be overturned by better than 2 to 1.

To my knowledge, there’s never been a poll favoring the outright reversal of Roe.
I don't care what the polls say. It's the correct decision and I will be thrilled beyond words if this is true. I honestly did not believe I would see the day when the awful Roe v. Wade opinion was overturned. Looks like I was mistaken.

How about for poor women, the kind that most Republicans hate with the passion of a thousand suns? You know, the women who can barely afford to drive 300 miles across Texas now, and definitely can't afford to fly.

Besides, my response was to the poster who said something like "can't get an abortion in your state? Then move."

All the pro-abortion forces have to do is put together a Constitutional amendment, and get it approved by 2/3 of the House and Senate, and 3/4 of the states.

If the opinions favoring the Roe and Casey decisions are as numerous and overwhelming as they say, they should have it in place and adopted in less than a year.

Won't they?
That would never see the light of day in red states, when was the last constitutional amendment, 100 years ago. They want to make life miserable for women seeking abortions, changes nothing.
