If they are in my way, I am not polite. I just tell them to get the hell out of my way or I will call the police.
Just like when Walmart wants to check your receipt on the way out, that is illegal in my state. I just tell them, "I am not playing today".
My local grocery store has a Time Warner Cable/Spectrum (or whatever they call themselves in 2022) table set up right at the main entrance and they nag everyone leaving the store to sign up for service.
The Sam's Club and Walmart I go to always have nagging AT&T people trying to get me to switch.
As if the sales phone calls weren't enough, now they bother us trying to buy groceries and motor oil from Walmart.
Has anyone else had to deal with annoying sales people in their local stores?
You still go into stores? One good thing about Covid, the spread of online ordering with curbside pickup or delivery. Saves a whole lot of time and money.
I have to go to Office depot almost daily to drop off fedex's. Normally outside there is a "person" with a table asking for money for suicide prevention or poor kids and other BS. As soon as I walk up I am the first to speak with a NO, dont even ask.
I cant believe management allows the harassment
I've managed to cultivate a solid "I'm not interested" demeanor under these circumstances. 9 times out of 10 I walk by unaccosted.
This.
Not only do I have a "leave me alone" demeanor nailed pretty well, but I have exactly zero compunction with saying directly "not interested." No "sorry,..." qualifier. Just straight "not interested." There might be 1 in 10,000 sales people in the world that are willing to push me after that, and for them I have perfected the art of being scary while I say "get the hell away from me."
I have all the friends I need, so defensively offending a stranger doesn't bother me at all.
I say annoy them back! Just ignore what they are selling and ask them to direct you where they keep the blue hair dye and all the ugly looking clothes in the store!

Just tell them you're already signed up and keep on walking.
Otherwise if you're creative you can have fun with it.
"Can't sign up, I have to report to prison in 2 weeks and will be out of circulation for a while. Hey, you want to go out this weekend?"
"No thanks, my family died in a car accident and I'm moving out of state."
"My religion forbids me from engaging with such filth" (really good if it's something *odd* like if they're selling grills)
