Boston police say they have placed a 16-year veteran of the force on administrative leave while they investigate allegations that the officer directed racist slurs toward high school students at a McDonald’s in Hyde Park.

Joseph Lynch, an officer assigned to District E-18 in Hyde Park, was put on administrative leave after a report of misconduct from last Friday, Sept. 13, according to police spokesman Sgt. John Boyle, who told Boston.com on Friday that the department’s internal affairs division is investigating the incident.

The Boston Globe reported Thursday that Lynch was called to a McDonald’s in Hyde Park, where a group of ninth and 10th graders from Roxbury Prep High School’s nearby lower campus were reportedly being disruptive and had been asked to leave. Parents and students told the Globe that, upon arriving at the fast-food restaurant, Lynch physically pushed the kids, used the n-word, and called them “monkeys.”

If there is evidence that said officer used these slurs, then he should be canned. But so far none has surfaced. Kids say the darndest things!

This is already starting to smell like a hoax.

One of the parents, Rafaela Martinez, said the students may have acted hostilely toward Lynch, but noted, “They’re still kids.”
Here’s the real issue. I don’t know why anyone would want to be a cop.

You mean why shouldnt he be able to use racial slurs with no consequence? Cops should be able to do that even when provoked, and people should just accept it right?
They want to be cops because they need money and they have no other marketable skills. Thats also why many of them are derelicts.
BTW, you can rest easy, since its a white cop in Boston, hes not getting fired nor any discipline. I hope you werent worried.

Some people are into torture. They want to be a cop or a teacher or the president. Crazy, man.

If the kids were being jerks, that's not against the law, and police officers are supposed to be above the fray. If he can't take some mean words from snotty kids, he shouldn't have become a police officer.

So you are assuming he did what was reported. When a teen opens his mouth, what comes out is a lie.
