The hard left won't accept anything less than being able to kill an unborn baby up until the moment of birth. Most people are rightfully disgusted with that position, and with them.
And the hard right would outlaw all options, birth control, and as the title of this topic says "Texas wants to block out-of-state abortions".
But between these alleged extremes are the 65%+/- that support having a choice and that is where most people fall regardless of how they vote. There's a misconception that how one votes dictates your views on everything, here's a hint most people think for themselves...
30% of Dems/lean said no restrictions ever. 6% of Republicans/lean say the same (must be the "real" conservatives that "less government intervention" is their main core principle). The overall is 19% no restrictions ever, which gibes with the roughly 50-50 split of the nation.
On the "no abortions ever, no exceptions" it's 13% R, 4% Dems, so about 9%.
And on the "how long pregnant should matter" question, the R's are at 64% and the Dems are at 52%.
But the important stat of "extremism" is:
about 1 in 3 Dems say no restrictions for any reason.
about 1 in 8 Reps say abortion for any reason.
This is actually something the federal government can regulate. They can make it legal or illegal to allow women to travel between the states for abortion because it would be interstate commerce.
I do not agree with banning Plan B pills. There is nothing wrong with taking them, "the morning after", in my opinion. How long does it take for an egg to be fertilized?
Is this even possible? Could they prosecute people smoking weed in Michigan or gambling in LV? I don't think this would stand. Sounds like fear mongering.
I heard that Missouri is considering a law that...in theory/if prosecutors chose to go there...would make a pregnant woman who spent one night in a motel in Missouri on a cross country trip and then later had an abortion in say New York subject to criminal charges because the fetus would be considered a resident of Missouri because of that one night in a motel in Missouri.
Where are all the strict Constitutionalists who claimed abortion is up to each State? Texass needs to butt out of what other States allow. They’re like Nazis controlling the movements of the Jews. What next, women of child bearing age have to register as such and wear a pink uterus symbol on their coats?
No - actually this how you think, which is why you ascribe it to others.
People like you always want to build a strawman of the church as some authoritarian threat - when it's really liberals who are the threat. We have all experienced it now.
YOU have no idea how i think, lumping people into groups is your mistake, the evangelical Christians on the other-hand have shown by over 40 years of effort to gain power in politics what they are like
i dont confuse attempts to deal with a pandemic with authority with plain all out the authoritarian methods of religions
stick to condemnation to HELL and quit trying to enforce legislation of your religious viewpoints
