No surprise here, this happens all the time, the CA surcharge never came down after some refinery explosion in SoCal a couple of years ago. They'll probably keep prices high forever now because they know none of our politicians will do anything. Case in point, Newsom and his empty promise to "investigate" CA's unusually high prices over 18 months ago.

Oil refiners exploited the crisis': Report shows oil refiners are gouging California drivers

A recent investor profits report shows that California oil refiners are gouging Californians as they earn more than double the number of other refiners.

According to Consumer Watchdog, in the first quarter of 2022, some California refiners earned more than twice as those reported by the same refiners in other regions and as much as five times more than in the first quarter of 2021.

"These profit reports show the Golden State Gouge is real. Oil refiners exploited the crisis in Ukraine to make a mint from California drivers," said Jamie Court, president of Consumer Watchdog.

It would be more painful, had L.A. not built a quite extensive light rail/subway system, and the 2nd best bus system in the country. But how many car-centric's will use it? Expect tons of excuses.

I've visited L.A. a number of times and used both the bus and rail system, saw no reason to rent a car.

Europe doesn't seem to complain much about their $5-$10 a gallon gas because they have such a good mass transit system.

Idiot Biden just canceled oil leases in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. Biden is 100% the reason for high gas prices and inflation.

Calif environmental wackos kill every refining project for the last 4 decades - they get what they deserve due to no competition.

You'd probably have to get each company's profit report, not sure how. Didn't see it on the Consumer Watchdog link, https://consumerwatchdog.org/energy/...-gallon-double

if the oil flow from Venezuela hadn't been stopped in 2019 under Trump, we'd have lots of cheap oil. There are negotiations going on with Maduro, and I'm sure it has to do with which sanctions to drop, but Chevron is standing by in case we reach an agreement with Maduro.

Yes, Maduro is a Dictator, but why be so picky about which Dictator to buy oil from?

and gas was under 3 bucks - we don't need Venezuela oil - we need for biden and his *******s to step away and let the drillers drill, producers to expand pipeline to move the damn oil and gas. this started the first day bidden was in office stopping the pipeline that was approved with permits in hand and construction started - what as did he is

I get an annual report from an oil company.

It does not show "profit" by individual refinery, just by sector at best.

Makes me wonder where they got their information.

Second, I suspect they are confusing revenue with profit. Those are two very different things.

"let the drillers drill, producers to expand pipeline to move the damn oil and gas". yeah, to hell with our water supply, and our kids and grandkids can fend for themselves.
