The US is attempting to Host a Summit of the Americas. Well at least some of the Americas. It seems the US planned to exclude many nations such as Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. That isn't sitting well with many of the remaining nations such as Brazil and Mexico and several Caribbean nations, who have now stated or said they are considering boycotting the Summit of the Americas.

Our efforts to exclude is reminiscent of middle school antics. If it is a meeting of the Americas that includes all the nations, not just the ones you like. Our efforts to control & bully the rest of southern neighbors seem to be ending. Someday they may unify around boycotting us. Perhaps the collective pressure will make a difference, and the US will invite all the nations.

Threats of boycott cast a shadow over Biden’s Summit of the Americas

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is not the only one threatening to boycott the largest gathering of leaders from the Western Hemisphere, which the U.S. will host for the first time since the inaugural Summit in Miami in 1994.

Reuters reported that President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil is planning to skip it. The president of Bolivia said he would also not attend “if the exclusion of sister nations persists.” And leaders of the 15-member Caribbean-Community block known as CARICOM plan to meet Thursday to decide whether they will boycott the event after agreeing in March to do so if Cuba and Venezuela were excluded, a source told the Miami Herald.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday she could not say whether representatives from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua will be invited because “a final decision has not been made yet,” leaving the matter still in the air.

It’s all Joe Biden’s fault.

if I were the leader of some S American country, that had to deal with the monsters on the block, and America was this week, I would do exactly this.

This is about the weakness joe and his Left people have created. (Joe because he is an idiot, the Left people by design)

the next line from the left will be to cave and say "if we would just be nice"............................................. ............

If Bolsonaro skips the meeting, that won't be a huge loss.

I actually think it is a rather strong (Yet misguided) stand to take regarding all the countries in our hemisphere. I don't see why it is necessary to try to exclude nations from the meeting, unless there is something the US has to fear.

Another concern other nations have mentioned is the summit is too US focased. While we are the largest nation of the bunch, all the other nations are also trying to make deals, and don't consider themselves part of the 'supporting cast'.

I agree with them. The United States is the major reason why so many of our Southern neighbors have horrible corruption. It starts with the failed war on drugs.

We certainly understood why such meetings were rare when Trump was President because the would be attendees were told not to like him and to boycott him but I thought everyone Loved Biden or so we have been told..?

Still why would the US bare some Nations from attending? Is the US part of the "cool club" at school and they think Cuba doesn't have anything to offer?

Why do they need to have a meeting at all? Will they be discussing the root causes of why so many hundreds of thousands are fleeing their own countries to the South of us to swarm ours? Didn't Kamala already get to the bottom of this in 2021 on her fact finding mission to Vietnam?

In the name of Climate change why can't they have these meetings on Zoom?

Those countries would not be invited to my summit, either.
Have we forgotten Hugo Chavez and his famous grandstanding and insulting of America and its President? We could expect nothing positive to come from the usual malcontent countries who want nothing good to happen to America. F* 'em.

The countries who wish to be represented and have their voices heard should send representatives. If some countries want to band together and form a Latin Lives Matter sort of club, let 'em.
The world will go forward without them.

Sheesh, if I were another nation, I would want nothing to do with the train wreck the US has become either. We are toxic right now. And it has all gone to hell in only a couple of years.
