And just the same, some people are surprised to learn slavery is still a thriving institution in some parts of the world. The NIMBY mindset might have something to do with it. Even still, it would be rather difficult for any one country to go around the world and stamp all the evil out that exists. If they tried, they would probably make the world an even more evil place.

That said, what the Chinese are doing is horrific and completely unacceptable. It is sickening that the world turns a blind eye just so they can buy cheap goods. The rest of the world needs to start producing the things currently made in China. Breaking our dependence on them is a matter of national and global security.

absolutely. remember when the wuflu first hit and china started mumbling about not selling us antibiotics if we pissed them off too much?
it should have been obvious years ago how badly we screwed up by getting so dependent on them.
