Ah, pornography, my old friend. The one and only vice I allow myself.

As a consumer of pornography since the late 80's, the biggest change I've seen is in the power shift between the porn producer and the talent. The "traditional" path to porn was a reasonably decent looking woman, from a poor or turbulent background, would start to strip in a local club as a necessity to make money and then get recruited into making movies. There was always a hint of desperation there in terms of circumstances. Now, you've got girls from upper middle class homes, some of whom are absolutely stunning, that plan on joining this industry and do so as soon as they turn 18. The overall quality of the talent in terms of looks is higher than it's ever been. A girl that could have been homecoming queen back-in-the-day (and therefore highly unlikely to become a porn star) now seeks it out. Onlyfans and Pornhub have really democratized the creation of content.

As for porn being harmful, well sure, child porn is 100% harmful, and some people on the fringes are likely victims of trafficking, but it's like any other vice. Some people can't handle it and become addicted, while most people are fine. I feel fortunate that my tastes are pretty mainstream...I like to see a beautiful women, who's enthusiastically into it, getting railed. As for fetishes, I have a thing for pregnant women...always have since I was a little kid, but quality pregnant porn is hard to find.

Go to any museum - naked is in. Please. What is more prominent is sexual acts on the internet or videos. It’s over the top and free. But the KamaSutra was published in English in 1883. So much for the puritans.
We are more obsessed with sex I think than any other country. I mostly feel for your gals that need to look sexy like the Kardash . Was there enough thread in all those dresses worn at the awards to make one read dress? I just see pretty string covering the bodies.
We cry conservatism yet - I hate to say it, my quiet neighbors posted a picture of their 12 yr old grand, with one leg up high above her head in a tiny shiny shorts and 1/2 top with heavy lipstick.Oh sorry, she’s a cheerleader.
We are over the top. In 3rd world poor countries, there’s no bras - all wash naked at the river and who cares. It’s natural. Have we made it a perversion?

Any of you ever go to the Pompeii and see the shops they uncovered where they sold sex with pics depicting the product available.

You do realize that there are porn sites for women and by women?

Nope. There are centuries' worth of porn drawings, paintings, and prints of all kinds that can be seen in the closed rooms of Europe's art museums. Fewer of those rooms exist now; but while the works can be openly seen, once a visitor buys a ticket into the museum, Photography is still prohibited, as the museums are all big money-makers.

Rembrandt created some of it. Some was drawn for his own pleasure, but he sold most of it to his Dutch patrons, who displayed it in their homes and sometimes in their businesses openly.

The pictures were part of the way people entertained visitors, especially the important folks. Some were made for instruction and presented to newly-weds and was presented as an expensive gift.

Artists from later periods produced stacks of porn. Gustav Klimpt painted some that is still displayed in Vienna's private homes, government offices, and businesses.
Picasso also painted and drew a lot of porn. Some of it was glazed into the pottery he made.

The notion that porn should be tucked away, out of sight, arose in the Victorian era. A time that Americans clung to far longer than Europe.
Like most things that came late to America, we overdid once porn wasn't blanketed in illegality. We always overdo with stuff that was once forbidden.

if you can't see the difference between "barely legal porn" and kiddie porn there's something wrong with you.

As some others have pointed out the age of consent was way lower 100 years ago. So maybe ankles showing was considered porn but grown men were marrying and having sex with 12 year olds. Yea lets go back to that, makes totals sense.
