I'm hardly a practicing Christian but I know enough of Christian history and theology to know you can't cherrypick your stances and still call yourself a devout Christian. Life begins at conception goes straight back to the earliest days of the faith.
Of course, people have always privately cherrypicked what they supported without making a fuss with church leaders or accepted that in this particular instance they were quietly sinning, but it seems that in this instance Pelosi justified her support for abortion as part of her Catholic faith.
No wonder the archibishop was furious. She crossed a line there. And he's right to withhold communion.
Wow. This whole attempt by the religions folks to influence our government tells me that its apparent that they no longer should be allowed to be tax exempt.

The archbishop is attempting to get Pelosi to stop sinning. Problem?

There is no law saying the church has to grant communion to anyone. The church has a long history of denying communion to people in power. It's nothing new and it's been going on long before the USA was a country. Can you explain how this represents an attempt to influence government? The Church has every right to practice and preach the word and teachings of God. And we know how the traditional stance of the Catholic Church looks and treats abortion. It has always been considered a sin. You can't just punish them because you don't agree with the teachings that were handed down by Jesus himself according to the Catholic church. Pelosi is not bigger than Jesus, sorry. Pelosi has every right to join another church, faith, etc if she feels unwelcome.
It's hypocrital for Nancy and Joe to support abortion and to be followers of the Catholic religion. That has nothing to do with influencing our government. It's about them personally.

An individual that claims to be a member of a church should follow that doctrine, or they are not a member of that church as they do not hold those beliefs that make the church the church.
Pelosi only claims to be a Catholic to get votes. She has no morals, no foundation, no scruples.
She may say she's Catholic, but her words and actions speak otherwise.
The Bishop is completely correct to call her out on her hypocrisy.
What he's telling her is to follow the teachings of the church or she won't be given communion. He says nothing about politics. Preserving life and seeing children as sacred is a fundamental part of pretty much all religions since human sacrifice was outlawed.
