McDonald's to temporarily close 850 restaurants in Russia

watch the video here

The American fast-food chain has announced that it will temporarily close its 850 restaurants
in the country and suspend all its operations on Russian soil, thus following in the footsteps of many
multinationals that have decided to distance themselves from Moscow. The group will continue to pay its
62,000 employees in the country, said in a message the general manager of the company, Chris Kempczinski.

Good. Shut anything not Russian down. Let the people complain about Putin. No more Starbucks or donuts etc. Why do we give so much power to one idiot?? When an idiot rises up and can’t play well with others, they need to be made to step down. He is a murderer.

LOL. Taco Bell is so bad the Russians wouldn't even eat it.

Neither would Mexicans.

Pay them ANYWAY?? WHY?? You should take what you're going to pay them and, instead, give that money to Ukrainians who have lost everything! PLUS, tell the McDonald's WHY they're no longer working!

I guess it's because McDonald's plans to reopen in the near future. The money is frozen now anyway. I reckon they can only use it for local transactions in rubles, like paying the employees. They'll lose a lot of value if exchanged to USD. And cannot wire it overseas like to Ukraine, since swift is gone.

This unironically makes the Russians healthier/stronger, so maybe McDonalds should consider reopening and selling more of that "food".

ABC Evening News just showed a clip from 32 years ago with Diane Sawyer reporting the grand opening of the first McDonald’s in Russia and closed by asking how long will it last.
