That's their MO, invading another country under the pretext of protecting ethnic Russians living there. The best thing for Ukraine is: take back stolen lands and send Russian speaking people to Russia.

And Russia has staged their invasion forces out of Belarus so Poland does face fighting for their existence like Ukraine does.
And not being ready can cost more than the cost of the weapons that may deter Russia in the long run.
