Russia has exposed itself as a collapsed empire that is unable to deal with the 21st century world. The culture of lying and brutality from those in power make it incapable of the self reflection, self criticism and reform necessary to compete in the modern world. It will probably continue in this manner until the collapse is complete. It's two possible end games are revolution or failed state style third world poverty.

Turkey's Erdogan addressed the UN General Assembly on the situation in Ukraine. He said Putin told him at a recent summit, that he's ready to end the war "as soon as possible", and that his negotiations with P. are heading in that direction. (I know: we'll believe it when we see it.)

There's a link to the PBS interview in the article. Erdogan also spoke to Putin about returning Crimea to Ukraine. He said Turkey's relatives [referring to the Crimean Tatars] live in Crimea. He would like to see it returned to Ukraine, and was firm with Putin about all territory taken by Russia being returned to Ukraine in order to bring about a lasting peace.

I don't think Putin will accept terms that are not to his advantage if this news is real at all.
