From less than two years ago.

These particular Dems have sure been quiet for the last day or two. Anybody think they've changed their minds?

Or are the just laying low after Uvalde TX, waiting for the heat to die down?

Democrats Introduce Bill To Get Police Out Of Schools

Jul 31, 2020,01:04pm EDT
ASSOCIATED PRESS

The deaths of Black people at the hands of police this year ignited an important conversation about police reform in this country. A number of proposals have been introduced to address various facets of policing at the federal, state, and local levels. This week, Democratic lawmakers in Congress added to that list with a bill to get police out of schools.

Senators Chris Murphy (CT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA), along with Representatives Ayanna Pressley (MA) and Ilhan Omar (MN),
introduced the Counseling Not Criminalization in Schools Act that would prohibit federal money to be used to fund police in schools. The lawmakers said this would prevent money from being diverted from important student service providers, like counselors and social workers.

Yeah, just what we need.

Left to the law of natural selection, the left would have been extinct a long time ago. They are a parasitic organism which left to itself cannot survive. It needs a host. That host is the rest of society, which has to tolerate its stupidity and lunacy. Perhaps it is time for the rest of us to "harden our heart."

No surprise the clown posse and the Jihad squad were on the list.

Chris Murphy, Elizabeth Warren, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar

Interesting that you bring that up. when I was a Democrat, 90s, almost no Democrat would describe themselves as a Leftist or Socialist, now they Embrace those terms!
And with the advent of BLM many are openly embracing Marxism, like the community Activist that started that group

If you want the police to stay out of schools, just hire more SROs like Scott Peterson. Just reading over the link in the OPs, I'm not a fan of the bill. But having the police in the school yesterday did not do much good. 19 elementary kids still got killed.

Yep. The democrat party of today has very little in common with the democrat party of thirty years ago and almost nothing in common with the democrat party of a hundred years ago. Of course, there has always been a "fringe element" in any party. But the fringe has taken over the dems.

There was no Police Officer assigned to that elementary school — there was a Police Officer assigned to a nearby Middle or High School. This is common in Texas and I expect it to change IF we can get school districts to use the Money the State and Federal Government give them for School Safety instead of Bonus’s & raises for Teachers.

Back to that Police Officer in Uvalde — 2 SRO Officers were the first responders BEFORE the shooter got inside the school - they ran to him and both were shot. The shooter got into the school.

Texas was the first State to place a Police Officer in a school full time - it was in the early 80’s and it was in my City. One specific High School had a Gang problem - parent groups, local merchants and the School asked for help. The Police canvassed all those concerned and the consensus was to have a Police Officer on Campus.

It worked well and soon the other High Schools wanted an officer. It has now spread to all our middle and high schools. All these schools have only one entrance and the SRO is stationed at that entrance.
The assigned Police in schools began to curb Gangs & drugs - now it’s needed for protection from Monsters.

Either the back door to the Uvalde School was left unlocked OR it was not an auto locked door when closed.
The shooter knew the back door was often unlocked because his grandmother had worked at the school.

All this information was in the Press Conference this afternoon.

After Sandy Hook the LAPD took it upon itself to have an officer visit a school during every patrol to supplement the dedcated LA Unified School District Police force. Since that time we had the Florida school shooting where we found a single deputy might be hesitant to charge a fast firing weapon's kill zone alone. Then LAUSD decided to defund its police force so more schools depend up a single or no officer as its front line protector.

terrible idea, "gun free" and "police free" zones just gives a potential shooter a better opportunity to not encounter resistance when they plan their crime.
