The simulation they ran last year predicted 1.3 million deaths worldwide by January 2023.

Monkeypox Was a Table-Top Simulation Only Last Year

The coronavirus simulation took place in October 2019, 2 months before the COVID-19 outbreak went public.

Small Pox vaccine is required and many lab technicians, the Military depending on the deployment, and Public Health officials are still required to be inoculated for the Small Pox virus, which is effective against Monkey Pox as well (a couple of others too). I say inoculated because it's still the "dip the needle and poke several times" method. There is no simple vaccine.

You have to be vaccinated against Small Pox to work in a State Lab (Yes states have "State Labs" for Public Health) in certain areas as you do not know what the specimen your testing contains.

I had the opportunity to be vaccinated for Small Pox and join a team that vaccinated the state lab personell when I was working in Public Health in 2016, turned it down due to the care of the site once poked, too much a bother, but it was not an unusual request given the situation around bioterrorism, and the risk of working in a state lab where everything unusual gets submitted
