Why solve a problem? Just like abortions, the Dems had 50 years to put abortion into law, instead they dangled the carrot of fear of taking away abortion each election cycle to procure votes. Same things done with gun laws and social security. The Dem voter base aren't really the brightest group of people in this country.
They only want one thing, to eliminate guns. They never let a tragedy go to waste.
Incorrect. They fully intend to keep THEIR guns.
They just want to ban everyone else from having them (and violating the Constitution is of little concern).
Interestingly, personal gun ownership is up among traditional left wing constituencies. Turns out defunding the police and letting your cities go to hell crime wise begets a reaction.
Liberals want you to believe that making the schools safe, would make kids "feel like they're in a prison". Instead they want / offer to make the entire country a prison.
Children have never been in a prison. How would they know?

The Parkland mass shooting happened more than 4 years ago, on 2/14/2018. At the time Trump promised to “do something”. In 2019, Senator Scott ( Fl) introduced the Luke and Alex School Safety Bill to CODIFY a federal school safety clearinghouse for best practice recommendations. Senators Johnson and Rubio were co-sponsors. Despite Republicans holding a majority in the Senate and Trump in the WH, the bill went nowhere. Why is this?
The bill was reintroduced by Johnson with Scott and Rubio as co- sponsors in 2021. As with the original bill, it went nowhere.

A segment of Congress want teachers to be trained and armed. Generally speaking, that does not go over well with a majority of teachers. Then there’s the plethora of potential liability issues that could occur if/ when a teacher shoots a kid.
There was an armed security officer in the grocery store in Buffalo, last week. He was a retired police officer with decades of experience who shot the shooter. The bullet(s) however did not penetrate the shooter’s armor. Unfortunately, the security guard was not wearing full body armor and the shooter retaliated and ended the guard’s life.
Reportedly, ( confirmed ?) there was armed security at the door of the school in Texas. For unknown reasons, that did not prevent the shooter from accessing the school.
The NRA Annual Meeting begins tomorrow in Houston. It’s the “ See and be Seen” NRA event of the year along with the fundraising dinner and auction for NRA lobbying initiatives. Trump is one of the speakers. All guns, accessories, ammo, laser pointers, knives and backpacks are prohibited. An army of Secret Service agents are on site to make sure a prominent civilian is substantially safer than any school kid, anywhere in the US.
Anything that flies in the face of the "no more guns" talking points and policies the left wants is NOT welcome. This thread here is proof that dems don't want to make people safer they just want to have their talking points remain uninterrupted.

Both of those individuals did what they were supposed to do. They engaged the shooter and distracted him or made him change his plans, thereby lessening the carnage the shooters could do.

Don't forget Sandy Hook, Fort Hood, San Bernardino Binghamton, Aurora, Washington Navy Yard, and Geneva County. All done when Obama, Biden and the Democrats held the reigns. But it's all the NRA the GOP fault for doing nothing right ? Stop being so partisan, and trying to point fingers. Both sides have played kick the can on this issue.
The bill, named after Parkland, Florida, shooting victims Luke Hoyer and Alex Schachter, would require the Department of Homeland Security to establish a "Federal Clearinghouse on School Safety Best Practices" for use by state and local educational and law-enforcement agencies, institutions of higher education, health professionals, and the public. And it would require DHS to "collect clearinghouse data analytics, user feedback on the implementation of best practices and recommendations identified by the clearinghouse, and any evaluations conducted on these best practices and recommendations."
Democrats love school shootings because they use them for political gain. Create a problem, then blame the Republicans.
