The teachers are not failing. Teachers know Waht they are doing. Many teachers are also big into social justice activism, and feel either really upset if they are of a person of color background or feel guilty for coming from a upper class white background. Both groups feel that the system does not work and something has to give. This is where teachers want to do critical pedagogy in schools in which students lead the class room, and the teacher and student are co creators of knowledge. Also teachers are into blm, Antiracism and all other lgbt stuff to promote in schools. And teachers union allows it in many school districts across the country. Teachers know what they are doing. Btw mertism is an old mainline white protestant vertue and is an hallmark of what makes America great. Try your best as an individual and you can do great things. Woke people are critical of mertism since it comes from an Enlightenment framework as well as mainline white protestants frame work. The woke activist want to undue the Enlightenment age in which we still live in. Don't give me that bs that the teachers are failing. Karl Marx created a virus in which child ideologies like communism nazism baathism all overturned Enlightenment liberalism values which was exported from the west. Woke ideology is no different than the ones I mentioned.

I disagree. Students get ONE SHOT at a government paid education. Anything "remedial" should be at the parents expense. Too much taxpayer money is being wasted on kids that are too distracted to do their primary job which is to get an education.

This is what happens when you get rid of a bunch of Vietnamese and Chinese kids that study 7 hours a day.

again, sounds like the teachers are failing. when you need to handpick the perfect students, then you never were a "top" school. Easy to teach a bunch of upper middle class kids with zero real life problem, compared to teaching middle class and lower kids that have to juggle homework and poverty issues.

Sorry but everyone is NOT a winner no matter who you try to blame.

an asian kid born to immigrant parents has to face more real life problems and obstacles (language, culture, poverty, and discrimination) than say a black American kid.
