Student loan borrowers trying to get the things required to get a job pay 6-9 percent interest.

The banks get it for near zero to get money that just multiplies itself that they charge the public interest.

The interest rates should be tied to what the banks pay the fed.

The 10 k is reparations for that mistake.

They should also give 10 k to anyone who has paid off their loans in the past 10 years. Pay for it through taxing the banks that caused the 07-08 recession.

I need that, and about $65,000 more. Please. Pretty please. Someone’s gotta pay for my gender studies degrees!

~93% of the student debt is held by the Federal government. Does not involve "predatory banks", and the rates are set by the Feds. And under 9%

you've already told us you're close to your PSLF.

I wonder, if Joe's handlers have their way, they'd either

a. cut those in your situation a check for $10K
b. count it towards payments so you can reach your 120 faster.

Graduate loans do. Many jobs require it with time. Grad plus loans are 8.5 percent.

When did I say that loans are held by banks. I am saying borrowers should pay the same rate as banks. The same entity is loaning them. Why do working people pay more while banks pay less?? I’m just saying it should be even.

Honestly, with the last changes made to PSLF regarding deferment, my loans should be pretty much forgiven. Not exactly how I planned to pay off my loans, but I’ll take it.

She probably would have her student loans paid off at this point had I not advised her to hold off after Biden was elected. It looks like that advice will pay off for her.

As much as I despise the administration for shamelessly buying votes from an irresponsible generation of college graduates, at least I take solace in the fact that for once my tax dollars are helping a responsible, young adult that has her **** together.
I don't blame you for getting yours, you'd be stupid not to. I blame Biden for transferring wealth by taxing the poor and working class to subsidize a group that contains the wealthiest and most uselessly overeducated people in the world
