The new norm.

Quote:
Laverne Cox is a four-time Emmy-nominated actress, an Emmy-winning producer, an activist and, now, a Barbie doll.

Mattel Creations has released what it describes as a “Barbie Tribute Collection Laverne Cox Doll,” KTLA sister station WGHP reports. The doll, released Wednesday, is selling for $40 and is available on Amazon, Walmart, Target and MattelCreations.com.

Mattel highlights Cox as “the first transgender woman of color to have a leading role on a scripted TV show” and released the doll ahead of the actress’s 50th birthday. The company is also donating to TransFamilySOS, a nonprofit that works to create “a more gender-affirming and accepting community,” according to Mattel.

Vote with your wallet. *shrug*

Obvious market analysis of younger people and then trying to produce a doll to incent them to purchase etc. or at least to insulate against the angry intolerant mob of angry haters.

30 years from now, I'll be dead or equivalent and people will be crying about how they were all mislead and gender confused by the media etc at an inappropriate age and that normalizing differences (which I agree with and support) went overboard in targeting too young of individuals.

And people will. I am sure there will be quite a niche market for the doll from the Trans Community, but once that fraction of a percent of their customers buys the doll, the other millions of girls will go right to the standard Barbie dolls and we will see this doll in the Clearance Section in a few months.

ESG minded ownership/management puts social issues ahead of profits. They are worse than communists.

That's not a Barbie doll, it's a Laverne Cox doll. And it's not transgender because it's a piece of plastic.
