This was an American citizen who did the shooting.

What, FFS, does illegal immigration have to do with this? If you are drawing the conclustion that because the shooter has a Spanish surname, he has to be illegal, it should give you comfort that it is highly likely in this little town that most of the victims will as well.

Awful.

Since he’s a high school student shooting up his local school is seems extremely unlikely his motive is political. Plus he shot his own grandma. Going for “glory” and fame probably.

It allows people to live in echo chambers at a rate never before seen. Despite all the connectivity, people are more alone today than ever. Is advanced technology bad for the human spirit? I tend to think so.

Poor kids and parents.

Happens again, and again, and again. Only in the US.

Yes, there are BP in alot of these south central Texas communities. We are not far from the border, so it's not unusual for BP to be present or involved. Doesn't mean the shooter wasn't a citizen or part of the community.

Just give it a few weeks sadly, seems like these shooters are trying to outdo each other.

I think most schools do have doors that are locked. BUT reality -- kids play outside for recess so doors are held open to let kids in, etc.

That is unconstitutional and a moot point. What can we do today to prevent future school shootings? You cannot legally do anything about the tool they use, especially when the tool used is protected by the Second Amendment, so we have to think outside of the box. Why do schools not lock all outside doors? That would have prevented today's mass casualty. The shooter had to be mentally unstable. Was he not taking prescribed medication? Had he talked about coordinating mass shootings that went unreported? Obviously, there is more to the story than we know.
